Ok, so i got a bone stock 166k mile laser, drove for 1 day pulled in garage and was revving it up and it jumped 3 teeth on crank....

so when it was down i went ahead and replaced the cracked exhaust manifold
upgraded the 14b to a evo 3 big 16g
front mount intercooler
type s BOV
maf-t
GM brand new MAF
removal of the charcoal canister and EGR block off plate
new valve cover gasket and painted the valve cover
new spark plugs
new 9mm spark plug wires
new battery

just all the basic cheap stuff to do to it, this is my first 4 cylinder, first car with a timing belt, first front wheel drive car, etc.....

took off timing belt and crap and put it back in time and it ran but was hard to start, and kind of popped and backfired kind of through the intake and exhaust blew some black out and popped also... and then turned it off and came back a few days later to pull it out of garage and it would not start, it turns over fine, but sounds like someone after smoking 10 packs a day for 30 years and it wont start start, just kind of cough

not sure how to remove the head, remove timing belt again, t-stat flange, exhaust, and just start pulling stuff off of intake and where are the head bolts and is everything easy to get to?

btw this is all in like a 4 month period... its not a main project

I would:

1. Double check the timing belt

2. Make sure you got your plug wires firing order correct...

3. Charge battery fully

4. Run a compression test

Post back result of compression test....

The bad thing was doing a bunch of upgrades that could complicate the troubleshooting...like the Maft and the GM MAF...so make sure that is all done right and all parts are good on that end or revert to stock till after you resolve it.

Hopefully you don't have bent valves.

There are some threads that tell you how to pull the head, use the search feature extensively to research that procedure.

With the timing belt skipping 3 teeth, Do a leakdown, you stand a chance of bent valves.
