well I'm up in PA and I'm trying to get a shortblock built.

I have everything I need but I need the assembly and machining done.

I don't have the time, or tools to build it myself and plus I'm a noob and don't wanna F it up.

anyways what do you guys pay around here to get the machining done on the shortblock and the assembly done on it too.

hot tank, bored, decked, torqueplate, all that.

and then just assembly.

thanks.

DSM Graveyard - Your #1 Source for DSM Parts!

I'm not sure if you have seen this or not, but I also live in PA and there aren't many trustworthy engine builders around my area for DSM's. When I have my bottom end done im just gonna send it over to these guys and have them do it for me. It will be added piece of mind that everything's done right and to spec's.

Hmmm....Not sure why you told me to search when I've answered your questions in 3 different posts. But ok, I guess I'll do that. Am I going to find a thread in there of yours with your personal reason for deciding to not go with them? Cause after all...that is what I asked for. Thanks for the search tip tho. :)

Sorry we cant email you back as soon as you send it.But i always reply to you within 48-72 hours. And now i have all the company emails going to my cell phone which i check 2 to 3 times a day.Even on weekends.:)

$1800 just for assembly and machining when you are providing all the parts? WTF

It cost me, including machining in oil squirters, assembly and all machining necessary to assemblethe block $800.00.

We at dogbox charge 350 to assembly the short block plus around 300 for machine work if your crank is good. The customer supplies the parts for that price.

the 1800 price is us supplying the parts.including a new oil pump.

this sounds about right.

when i was rebuilding my last 6bolt i got a quote for the shop to bore/hone/deck the block (as well as hottank and paint) and install the rotating assembly with me supplying all necessary parts (as well as balancing it) and it was $800.

I ended up just honing it myself, and putting the entire thing together myself with little more than AllData for help. ran great.

The main 4G63 engine builder here in Chicago just built a shortblock for me. $640, and that included $90 for new rings.

Strip block of plugs/dowels/bearings $40
Hot tank/clean/measure bores $50
Hot tank crank/measure journals/polish $50
Hone bores (but didn't not overbore) $100
Wash out block,clean new rods/pistons, re-install plugs/dowels/bearings $60
Deck block surface for MLS gasket $50
Assemble rotating assembly $200

I honestly don't know if that $200 includes the rod/main bearings or not. There is mention of ACL bearings, but I can barely read the handwriting. If that $200 includes the bearings, that's HELLA cheap to assemble a bottom end.
