After wading through countless threads I can't find what im looking for ao here goes...

I just picked up a 97 GST Automatic. All stock. 138k miles. It walked. Crank end play was around .007

I have the engine out of the car.

I do not want to do a 6 bolt swap as I will not be keeping the car.

I'm going to replace the crank as it is scored and there are plenty of 2Gs in junkyards here.

Is there a certain type of thrust bearing I should buy? I'm not studding the mains so I don't need an align hone right?

Luckily it is an automatic so there won't be a huge amount of load on the thrust surface (in theory, right?)

Lastly, does anyone have any solid advice or tips and tricks on a 7 bolt build aside from the norm like double checking clearances and torques?

If a new crank is going into an existing bottom end then the mains should be checked and bored. Have the crank checked and possibly polished. Your thrust bearing is going to depend on what year of 7-bolt you have, the thrust washer 3-piece design or the flange bearing, just check what you have.

It is the flanged style. I'm going to mic the main journals in the morning. Thank you!!!

I've been contemplating drilling a hole in the center main journal of the crankshaft to promote oiling of the thrust bearing since there isn't a hole in it.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?
