This wasn't in a dsm but it's still motor related. Was coming home last night and felt a little froggy so I cranked the gsx-r 750 up to 180mph (speedos are exaggerated so probably about 150.) Got a few more miles down the road and wasn't feeling any power during acceleration. Then kaboom! Engine shuts off and there's smoke everywhere. Pull over, look around and see that a piece of my rod has shot through the block.

Any suggestions as to what happened? I'll be adding more pics as the tear down continues.

not to be ignorant, but you figure it out, hmmmmm 150 mph, then kaboom.........well, it dont sound like you at the track, so it must of been on the street,,,, NOT TOO SMART

Well, he didnt say "racing" just some spirited driving which without quoting numbers and such is a common thing on here... I know we're not promoting "going fast on the streets" here, but i ride the same bike (2003 model) and hope this never happens to me..

Were you n a rev limiter at all? I know suzuki cuts fuel to the engine for it's Speed and rev limiters, on the 1k it actually leans the bike out when you get near 188 MPH (indicated) in 6th gear (via the GPI in the trans) At WOT i would surely think this could kill even the best NA engine since it's purposely leaning it out to the point of robbing power.

Might wanna check around on the gixxer.com forums for more info.. keep me posted if not the board, i wanna know the cause, possible cause or anything else you find out

Jesus!! people need to lay off unless they know the full situation, I live in a place that has hundreds of miles of back roads with absolutely no traffic at 1am.

Not to mention I am pretty sure most if not every single person that will banter about the law has broken it in one unsafe way or another.
