Well today while I was preparing for a timing belt change, I noticed a busted bs belt...

Then I figured out why it was busted.... My front shaft is siezed..... Talk about disapointing...

What should I do? Pull the pan, start looking for damage..???...

This sucks...

92 laser. 6/4 combo..

Thanks guys...

If it helps.. I was planning to build another 6-bolt... But I'd hate to toast a good one... Maybe it is already?

:notgood:

As long as the belt didnt snap or get tangled in the timing belt you should be ok. It probally wouldnt hurt to pull the oil pan off and just double check the bottom end though. Just buy a BSE kit and get rid of those balance shafts.

I def plan on buying bse kit... But..... I was looking at Parts dino.... Isnt the stubby shaft supposed to have a groove in the center?

Yes the stubby shaft is suppose to have a grove in it, I would not recommend buy that kit from them. I got mine from MAPerformance for like $25 with out the bearings. They recommend that you use OEM parts.

You da man.... Just so ya know... I got a LAser too.....
:sneaky:

I'm just afraid when i pull the pan, I'm gonna see my bearing in pieces...

Yeah that would not be good, hopefully its just seized to the shaft. But I would imagine if its seized to the shaft its going to be a PITA to get the shaft and bearing out. Also when doing the BSE you should look into porting the oil relief valve its very easy and will only take a couple minutes.

Hard part is getting the old bearings out!

Unless you got a cam bearing removal tool. It took me less that five minutes to spin the 2 bearings 180 degreez to block the oil passage. But I also had the motor on an engine stand.

I do not know if people know this but you can rent the cam bearing tool from rental places.

PLease use the OEM kit.Your oil pump will thank you later. The first kit shown has been proven to burn up oil pumps. The OE stuby has a oil galley around it.The AM kits doesn't.

Darn it< was reading this thread, and I just rebuilt my engine using the Parts Dinosaur BS elimination kit. I have not read any posts about it burning up oil pumps. Can you give me some more leads on it? I may decide to pull the oil pump and replace the stubby shaft with the Mitsu oem one. Need more info first. Thanks.
