Has anyone heard anything about these cams and whats required to run these cams other than a built head/engine? Anything have to be customized? Im looking for some radical cams that have huge top end gains and also wanted to know how much of my lower end would be sacraficed to run this big of a cam.

BC 288 is not for stock cars. It is for fully built engines with big turbos that spools late for max. power over redline at 8k-9k. If you don't have a large turbo the 288/288 will not help but probably hurt the power because it won't initiate when the turbo spools. Just go with 264/272 or 272/272. You'll see a gain of 40hp.

yeah they would suck big time on the street so would 280s if you want a good cam for street use with a built head go with 272s

What are you trying to do? If you are worried about losing bottom end then you most likely don't need them. I have a set (not in the car yet) but I have a turbo bigger than a gt42-102 and alot of injector.

In my experience the 280's dropped spool time an additional 2-300 rpms over my fp2's. With my 50 trim, these cams are VERY streetable and helped top end a great deal. I don't think I'd ever idle my car at that low of an rpm (750), but at 900 rpm, the car is pretty much at home.

Did they drop spool time or raise spool time? I think I know what you mean but it's worded wrong. Can't imagine 280's making your car spool quicker then 272's

It all depends on which turbo you have. It won't drop spool time if you have a stock turbo. Different intake/exhaust cams have different power ranges rpm wise. 288 have the most benefit in high rpm to over redline and it would be most beneficial to have a late spool turbo that coincides when the cams.

if you get cams that big get a set of cam gears and you can help the spool time.
i had 272's and didnt like the top end they gave me so i put my 280's back in
and retarded the exh cam by 6deg and the car spooled faster and i made more
power threw out the power band.it dosnt matter what turbo you have with these cams,
i made 300hp with the 280's at 15psi on 93oct on a 6cm 14b turbo still on stock block
and intake manny.
