Well I bought a set of Crower SS valves and fererra guides. Had the guides installed. When I went to put the head together the valves would not fit. Is this normal? Am I supposed to have to bore these guides? This is my first build and I'm just trying to get everything right.

Yes, to obtain a guide to valve clearance of .002 - .0033 of an inch. When they are air hammered in, it will tend to mushroom inward. I wouldn't recommend doing it on your own though, you could f-up your guides if you aren't precise. I just got mine back from my machinest and he charged my like 30 bucks for all the guides to be bored/honed to spec. Very cheap cost for something that is very important.

i know my si guides that i use come sized to fit the stock valves so im assuming the ferrea guides do also. there are some guides that need to be reemed though who knows maybe they might need to be. You could contact ferrea and find out.
