I am getting a another AWD but it has a non-turbo motor in it, and other related ?.

It is a non turbo motor in the car it is set up for non-turbo. I wanted to to put my 50 trim on it with all the other mods that i have, but i dont think it will like that much. I know there are no oil squiters for the pistons but that is all i know. I know the cosmetic felpro head gakit wont like it but i have a metal one.

Is there a difference in the non turbo motor in terms of head and piston that are used.
As far as the non turbo head goes it is identical to a turbo 2.0 head? (use it on a turbo motor if i need to)
Compression was 4-3-2-1___190-187-180-190.

I know the high compression will help make power on boost, but i dont know if the non-turbo motor can handle it so i need someone to chime in.

Thanks

The ring package on a NT piston is higher than on a turbo piston, I.E. the distance from the top of the piston to the top ring groove is less. While this does have some minimal swept volume bennifit, is also makes the piston a little weaker, and less resilient to detonation.

The wrist pins on the NT pistons have a much thinner cross section, than the turbo versions.

The stock pistion rings on a NT motor use a differnt material on the top ring than the turbo versions.

Thanks for the responce, so if i was to do this i would need to rebuild it, but if i was to no more than 10 psi on this motor, or would it be worth it to turbo it?

I could snap a picture of the last NT piston I replaced when it was used with a turbo @ 11psi:nono:

I would not reccomend using that short block as is.

The real problem is that the boost level will not stay down forever.

The non turbo block is identical to the turbo block except there are no oil squirters. The head, crank and rods are also identical.

First you need to find out what pistons you have. If your running a good set of forged pistons there is no need to change anything.
