Ok I have a 97 AWD and I have few problems. When I mount the transmission on to the engine I never swaped the starter mount. So, now the starter does not fit because the 1g starter mount blocks the holes. I was just wondering if I could just cut it off and use shims between the starter and transmission in order to maintain the same gas is it would be with the correct starter plate? If you had this problem and you solved it without taking the transmission out let me khow.

Another problem that I have is that this engine came out of 90 and and turbo was upgrated so, I never got the stock turbo or the lines. No big deal went to DSMotorsport and ordered E16G with oil feed/return and water feed/return. Now I look at the engine and I have no idea where the water lines go to. The oil feed I believe goes on the side of the head and return goes to the pan but where does water feed comes from and goes to?

Another question. On a new turbo, does it have some shaft play? Now up and down but side to side?

I have more questions but for not I am going to wait the others. If some of you guys have a picture how those lines go on please show me. And I have also searched but it seems that everyone khows how to put them on and no one asks how to put them on.

Thanks
Mike

The starter bolts into the transmission, there is no 'mount' for it. For the swap you use your 2g AWD transmission, so it should go in exactly the same as it came out. If you are having starter problems, I would suspect the wrong flywheel...you need to make sure to get a 6-bolt AWD flywheel with your setup.

Most vendors don't warrenty a new turbo if it is not fed from the oil filter housing. Reason for this is the oil filter housing gives more oil pressure with cleaner oil. As for the water lines, it really doesn't matter too much which side goes where as water will flow through it regardless. On a 1g, there should be a water line coming out from the water pipe, and the other should go right to the thermostat housing.

Brand new turbos will have a bit of shaft play as it is meant to be taken up by oil pressure. Install it on your car and start it up with full oil pressure and you should be good. If not, contact your vendor and let them know.

Yea thanks for the reply.

I have solved the problem with the starter. I am talking about the plate the goes between the engine and trans. The engine came out of fwd and i have awd so the flywheel i have changed and few hours back i pulled my engine and i swaped the starter plate/mount and now all the hole go together like it was build like that.

The coolent lines and oil lines i have also figured out. I have looked at a friends talon and i saw his lines so now i will just get all my pipes and go at it.

Thanks For Reply.
