What do you guys think about Jacksons work? I will be getting an engine this summer and I need to figure out who to buy from. I like Magnus, but their prices are nuts, almost 4k for a shortblock

Jacksons has their stage 2 block, for $2300 and it seems like there is alot of detail tht goes into it

Does anyone have any experience with them? Do they offer any kind of warranty on their blocks? I would prefer to get a 7 bolt built to make the install easier, but everyone keeps saying go 6 bolt.

Can anyone give me a quick rundown on the extra parts i need for the 7-6 bolt conversion?

I have purchased a lot of products from Jackson and they are awesome to deal with. I did not purchase a block but I pretty much built my head using all of there parts and everything was perfectly matched to my application. Talk to Carmen through email and she will get you your parts quick and help you in any way. Awesome Customer Service from them so far and I will be doing more business with them in the near future.

i wonder if anyone here has one of their shortblocks, would be nice to know

Sean Glazer was using them in his extreme race car but no longer use them. I would use them if they were local. I dont like the Idea of buying a motor 5000 miles away if you have any problems you are SOL. Just something to think about.

It's only 3000 miles from california to new york, where have you been shopping at from the middle of teh country that is 5000 miles away?

so whats a good shop in california? And dont say RRE, i just dont have a good feeling about those guys

i think theyre just a retail shop...they sell shit online, i dont think they are a full blown shop

vishnu is in san diego but nobody likes them here, RNRRacing is in san diego also, they only like to do dabrication. There is a guy on this website who is a mitsubishi master tech of like 10 years who likes to build motors and do timing belts n so fourth, nothing but praise coming from other memebers on this board, his name is duane known as bfdahl around here. He will be installing my long block once it comes in the mail.

There is also RALLY SPORT ENGINEERING located in costa mesa, specializes in evo's subaru's and eclipse. Does full blown rebuilds machining and fabrications but he's also pretty expensive. These are all so cal locations BTW, I don't even know where you are located, sorry if this was all pointless for you.

in in fresno, thanks for the help

see, i still have to get an engine from out east somewhere, i can swap it myself, thats not the problem, it would be nice to have a builder here in california who can build the engine that i can actually go to

Why do you need a engine from back east? Are they better from the east?
Just seems thats where all the reputable builders are setup. I bought my engine from new york, should be here in a few weeks.

I have to assume it's simply easier to operate, cheaper housing, cheaper overhead, but the prices for autoparts remain the same. You can live alot better compared to the west.

My house is nothing special, 2200 square feet, 3 bedroom 2 bath, made in 1970, was appraised last month at 600,000 dollars. A similar house is selling on the east for 200,000 and comes with more property.

Not sure why you wouldn't go with RRE. They're probably the only shop in CA that I'd trust working on my car. But I don't really trust anyone - if my car gets screwed up, at least it's my fault. So far, that's been the case. I'm still breaking in the JAM motor. I'll let you know how it goes. The machining looked great, and it impressed one of my more skeptical friends. We'll see how it holds up now.

With these cars, you pretty much need to go with a reputable builder and most of them are on the East coast. And people have probably heard at least one horror story about most of them anyway. You just need to find one you feel comfortable with.

I am running the JAM stage II motor now along with one of their heads and have had no problems yet. I only have 700 miles on the setup but I plan on bumping the boost from 12psi up to 20psi this week. The service from Carmela was great and the turn around was fairly quick. I had no issues with their machining or assembly, they are very straight forward and helpful. I would definitely recommend them. I'll see if I can find some of the pics I have of my build... Good luck!

You could try Prostreet Online in Hayward. I have no experience with them though.

We are a full blown shop... we are located at 3302 Arden Road in Hayward.

Thanks!

Not in the F-ing Metro DC area. :notgood: I can't even get a townehouse for less than 400K within an hour of DC.

Sorry not to go off topic, just a sore spot for me right now.
