OK fellows and thanks in advance:

I read here, and on other sites, and on the 1g in a 2g "FAQ" that the T-stat housing/waterneck and waterpipe follows the head... but even after searching no one has posted a concrete answer to my question.

Specs: 2g head and 6 bolt shortblock, still t25'd, still going to run the oil/water cooler.

What replaces the OEM 7bolt water connection that is bolted to the side of the 7 bolt block? My 6 bolt does not have this connection and thus I am apparently 1 water fitting (feed? /drain?) short. The local "6 bolt swap" guy wanted me to use a 1g water neck and t-stat housing (which I have) and a 1g water pipe (which I do not have). I wanted to use the 7 bolt pipe and housing as I like them better, and also because I have already bought new rad hoses with this in mind (and i am running out of time and have run out of money)

I am running the OEM water/oil cooler on a 1g mount... and wonder if this is the one case where you have to swap to the 1g water pipe is if you are keeping it, and everyone who is saying the 2g works fine is running the air/oil cooler?

OR is there somewhere else to source that water fitting?

thank you in advance

Hey bud I'm trying to visualize what your saying but having a hard time doing so  . You want to know where the water line runs from the pipe to the oil cooler? Or you have an extra line that needs to be plugged? I'm sorry if you could just explain it one more time in greater detail, I'll be able to visualize it better.

sure brew...

there is a water fitting bolted to the side of ny 7bolt 2g block, ibeleive it is for the turbo.

my swap guy wants me to switch out to a 1g tstat housing b/c it has an extra fitting on it to use replacing the one which was on the 7 bolt block.(but this means switching to a 1g pipe also which I don't have and can't afford)

95% of people say you can and should use the 2g water pipe, but my swap guy is freaking b/c he doesn't know where to get the additional water line for the turbo w/o doing it the 1g tstat housing way, he's never seen one or done one that way.

If someone could jsut tell me exactly what they did (add a bung, t these two lines etc) to get it to work, I can go down tommorrow and get it done (particularly important since I have to have the car back before monday morning as I have a job interview... so I can pay off the swap!)

Thanks for taking the time to read it.

I'm pretty sure that this is what your talking about but just want to make sure.

I'll be able to explain the whole situation as far as the water pipes and t-stat housing go, just get back to me and let me know if this is what your talking about.

Sorry, I'm a mental midget when it comes to trying fancy stuff like attaching a picture in a post :sosad:

Anyway I think it should work now, if not well :sigh: I'll try again.

right on Brew...

that's the one I am not sure how to feed back into the system...

I beleive it is a low side/drain connection for the turbo, and am thinking of just tapping it into the low side for the oil cooler near the T-stat.

What happened? what did you end up using instead of that plug. I need to do the exact thing. the 6 bolt does not have that attachment to the block..

I got it free b/c one of the wg actuator bolts was snapped of in the housing, and the other hole was a bit wobbly.

A couple of hose clamps later and the WG actuator doesn't wiggle and I have a free non oilburning t28 to replace my 50k oil burning t25 until I decide I want something better.

damn... it is gone isn't it. I guess vibration owns ME. ROFL

ONE of these days i'll put the handle back on.

Anybody else got any criticism?

I'm stuck with this same predicament. The first 2 pics that attack eagle posted aren't showing on my iPod. Anyways, by t'ing the water line, did it work just fine? Or how can I get the 2nd water line routed to my turbo? I'm nearly done with my 6bolt swap with 2g head, but i need to figure something out to make the 2nd water line to route to my turbo.
I'm doing the 6 bolt swap into my 2g.
