Maybe it's time they changed that rule. For those unaware, that email condition was put in place deliberately for a reason, but there's a good argument that maybe that reason doesn't really fly anymore. The reason it was put in place was to offer a small amount of protection to the members against unscrupulous individuals engaging in questionable transactions (mainly the selling of defective, misrepresented, non-existent parts, etc, etc). Incidently, that's also the reason the originators of that board insisted on people using their real names: to make it more difficult for unscrupulous people to scam members. These rules were put in place many years ago (close to 20 years ago I would think) and most of the original moderators/members that were around then are all long gone. I guess this notion of trying to safeguard members might be a bit outdated. The truth is now and has always been that individuals are obliged to take their own precautions when engaging in online transactions. Let's face it, these days online transactions (of all kinds) are fairly commonplace. Paying bills online, online banking, purchasing online, etc, etc. At one time these activities were new and regarded with some suspicion and reluctance. Those days are pretty much gone. These days, who doesn't use online banking, make online purchases, etc, etc, etc. The disasters predicted by the doon and gloomers never really happened.Agreed, I wish they could change the Email requirements.
