Hi all,

I'm considering buying a another DSM. I had a 97 Talon TSI 10 years ago and I would like to get another one for fun to drive on weekend and the odd track day. I've come across a heavily modified 500hp 99 GSX. It's running at 32 PSI. The build quality is great but I'm wondering if it's too much car for me. I would prefer to run at a lower boost for 350-400 HP. It's currently tuned for 500hp.
I like this one because of the quality of the work. Most of the mods I would have to do are only aesthetic.

The car details are below. This would be a second car.

I'm wondering if I should get this car and tone it down or wait until the right (less modded) car comes along. Please comment on any implications of detuning (smaller turbo? New manifold?) vs leaving as is.

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks for all your replies. I'm looking forward to being back in the club!

How will running it at 20 PSI vs 32 PSI when it's tuned for 32 impact the experience? Will it adversely affect the car?

Youll need to retune the car but that wont be a problem since it has dsmlink v3... if i bought that car and i were you, i would take it to a professional tuner to get it turned down though because it would be a disaster to blow that motor up! As for being to much car for you, it all comes down to the person driving it.. are you a responsible driver? Do you know what to do with 500 hp? As long as your responsible in it and not doing anything stupid and you can drive the car shouldnt give you any trouble, but dont screw around in that 500hp can get out of hand VERY quickly :thumb:

Thanks Boosted!

Any idea what it will cost to retune/detune it?

Thanks,

Hopefully repeating soon!

Rule of thumb...

Respect the vehicle dont be afraid of it..

Big difference... If it was me i'd get it.. tune it down to 20 - 24 psi and enjoy the car knowing later on in life if you feel the need to tune it up you have that option :)
