i have a 96 tsiawd. i also am in the market for a 20g or big 16g but i just rebuilt my 7bolt with a 1g head, intake, tb swap. i got new stock rods and the whole proline engine kit and new crank. the entire motor is pretty much new the 1stgen head got valve job and stuff like that. i really really don't want to blow my car up agian. reason for the rebuild was a spun rod bearing 3 days after i got the car. i don't know if the internals will hold a 20g i want power but don't want to kill motor. rebuilding the motor myself was the best and worst experience of my life. Do you guys think a 20g will destroy my motor. my goal right know is to get car into the mid to high 12 or low 13s. i really like the 20g idea but people run 12s and 13s all day with a big16 so idk.

thanks
jj

If you want something that'll put you into 13's, or high 12's, go 16g. It's a relatively easy turbo to get there with.

yea the 20g is an 11 second turbo with proper tuning no doubt .. john shepherd ran a 10.8 or 10.9 I think it was on a 20g. I ran a 12.8 on a small 16g so I know with a b16g 12s aren't a problem.

you should be ok on stock pistons. I have a 20g and I have stockers but my motor has been rebuilt. But as long as u dont push 23psi+ everywhere u drive u should be alright.

I wasn't happy with my small 16g, but VERY happy with my 20g. If I were to do it all again, I wouldn't have even bothered with a 16g. Just my opinion.
