Stroker Kit

Ok whos got this setup. Im looking to build a motor in the spring after I sell my NT. I wanna buy this kit build a motor and drop it into a 1G shell. Should I build it in my extra 6-Bolt 4G63 NT block or look into a 6-bolt 4g63t block?

I'm planning on putting together my own stroker kit. I'm going to get a new 4G64 crank from Forced Performance and then some Eagle Rods and stroker Wiseco pistons from www.importperformanceparts.net .

You can get some really good deals on stroker kits, and even buying the new crank you still don't spend alot. I was going to buy new rods and pistons anyway, so the extra .3-liters will really only cost the price of the new crank ( which is better than a used and rebuilt one, duh ). Good luck! Let us know how the install goes and what block clearancing you had to do ( I know there is a little material that has to be ground away for rod clearance, but don't quote me, I'm not a stroker expert ).

Wasn't there some issues with the 2.3's wearing out prematurely?

Also could anyone PM me about a 2.4 stroker? I would like to know what is needed to build one.

I beleive why they were wearing prematurely was the pistons/wrings combo, I've heard J&E have a very stout metel mix in there combo which scrapes up engine wall surfaces in a 15k-25k amount of time. This kit comes with a softer combo of Wiseco which from what i've heard is cylinder wall freindly

Some people would like to say that the increased rod ratio increases the cylinder wall wear, but many car manufactures have motors with similar ratios that last very long amounts of time ( Honda and the Ford 5.4-liter V8 come to mind ). Honda's have very high rod ratios yet they seem to do just fine. Its not so much the parts as how well they are put together. The parts are only as good as the builder. :thumb:

What block/piston modifications need to be done to use a 4g64 crank in a 4g63 crank? I can't find a complete list, and yes i've searched.

Biggest myth around. That was from guys who didn't properly build the motor or they had bad clearances on the pistons they were using (JE in particular). If they would have built a 2.0l it would have worn out as well.

If you are worried about rod ratios then stay away from the 2.4l as well as both have the same rod ratio and should "prematurely" wear out.

They have a 4G64 crank for 300$. Never get a used one. Its safe insurance to go with a new one and not risk a bad rebuild or possible defects.

Most of the $300 cranks are USED cranks that have been "re-manufactured". Also, I've built more than a few with used cranks from other engines and they have all turned out fine. Just take a look at the crank to see if the journals have been scored and slightly tap the end of the crank with a hammer to see if it makes a clear ringing sound (if it makes a dead thump then its bad). Take the crank to a machine shop and have them clean the crank, crack test it, polish the journals and be done with it.

There have been many discussions on the 2.3l stroker in this forum. A search using the key word "stroker" would yield a host of useful and some not so useful information.

I CALLED THE MAKER OF THE STROKER KIT TODAY AND THEY SAID THAT IT WILL FIT IN A 2.0 N/T BUT YOU HAVE TO GET 9.0:1 PISTONS EXTRA, AND THAT U COULD USE THE 8.8:1 'S IF YOU WERE GOING TO USE NOS.

Im not trying to say i wanna stay NA, I just wanted to avoid the oil squirters, Mostly because I already got a spare NA block. However, I'm starting to look into a JDM Engine/AWD Trans package.
