Can I run this setup temporarily for the T-25?

This is what I want to do for the time being until I have my car completely ready to bolt on a Green:

I am ordering the 3" o2 elim turbo back exaust from RNR here on friday and will be running an external wastegate.

I know i can't run both the WG's at the same time, so I figured I would take the WG flapper off of the T-25 that I have in there now and just run the external gate.

Will this work? I think it should, but let me know if I'm totally misguided with this....

If you just took off the flapper all the exhaust gas would just blow by and never spool the turbo...to do what you want you would have to weld the flapper door shut or do something else to make it imposible for the flapper to open.

no, cause i'd have the external gate

So the internal gate would be more or less removed, i.e. open, but then there would be the external gate (mounted on the o2 housing) right "down the line" so it would still act the same.

Correct?

Really not trying to argue at all, i'm just trying to get a better grasp on this.

If what you guy are saying is true, then why does any turbo with an external gate mounted on the o2 housing spool ever? None of them have a flapper, just the external gate opening to control boost.....

If you have an External wastegate the Flapper door is welded shut.

Think about it like this, if there was just a big hole where you're internal wastegate used to be then whats stopping all the exhaust gas from going through it and not even touching the exhaust blades??

That only applies if he manifold mounts it, thats oldschool east coast style. RnR is new school San Diego action...so I'm guessing the gate will be on the o2 housing. Which if you disconnect the flapper will be fine. Could always just leave the stock downpipe on until you get the green.

Exactly, the external gate will be on the o2 housing, thus I will need to eliminate the stock internal one.

Basically all I'm talking about is converting the T-25 over from internally gated, to externally gated.

I won't be able to just leave the stock DP if i want to put on any exaust. I don't think that the 3" catback will bolt up to the stock (2.25"?) DP and cat, so I figured I'd just do it all now, as I won't be ready to put on a Green for a while.

Do you think I can take off the flapper with the turbo still on the car, but just remove the entire exaust and o2 housing? Or would this be too much of a PITA?

Thanks again for the replys.
