Hi guys,
I've just gone over EGT gauge installation on VFAQ 'cause I'll be putting one in these weekends, but here's my concern:
They suggest using a clamp to keep the probe in its place, but wouldn't that be insufficiently sealed and contribute to pressure loss ?
Or is it not signifficant ?

Is there a better way to put the probe in the manifold ?

Are there any probes with screw-in plugs to screw into a threaded Mnifold hole? Welding is a problematic option for me, since my car is a daily commuter and I can't really leave it in the shop.

Mine is screwed in with a little JB weld on the threads for assurance. No exhaust leaks and works perfect.

Find your gauge and buy a probe from TRE, $38 and fast acting. Drill a hole, tap it, and screw your probe in and you're done.

My Autometer EGT came with a clamp, or screw in option. I went with the clamp since I don't have a tap kit. It came with a ceramic washer and I test fitted the clamp before I drilled the hole to get a better idea of where to get optimum fit with an accurate reading. Just turned that clamp till it was extremly tight- no leaks, reads what I thought it would.
