Changed my upper IC pipe yesterday the one from the BOV to the throttle body the hose had oil laying in the bottom of it so Im guessing the Intercooler is loaded as well where would this oil come from the car was stock when I got it would the PCV valve dumping into the intake all these years have something to do with it?

It is probably blowby coming through your breather hose.

Yes, that was the case with my car. I removed the hose, welded the fitting on my intake shut, and purchased a breather filter on the fitting that stems off the engine.

I also hear that the turbo gaskets may also be the prob. Do you have the stock SMIC? If so, try cleaning it out with some alcohol.

What is my breather hose the hose that came off the top of the head and into the stock intake that I now removed with the DEJONTOOL intake? I am planning on washing the IC out with Alchol on the weekend Its probably loaded!

Yes, the breather hose comes off the valve cover and runs to the stock intake. When you removed it, did you put a breather filter or catch can in place. You don't want to just plug the line because it is a pressure release for the valve cover also.

Do a compression test. I had the same problem while I was in the service limit, I had two broken rings and two broken ring lands. If your dipstick is crappy you can blow it out and blow oil all over your exaust manifold and catch the car on fire. I did that twice before I taped the bastard in. Nothing like a mechanic showing up to work with his car on fire. And since I work at ford with a bunch of chevy guys, I still havn't lived that down.

Those are good links, and I did do the $3 catch can mod for a while. But I ended up just going back to this:

Actually, I also did that for the PCV hose as well.

also it could mean your turbo is going, the seals in it will leak and blow oil all through the piping, thats likely and common, is happening to me on a turbo now that o\is only 30,000 miles old, if your turbo is stock it is a high possibilty,

There is just no reason for spending even $3 on a "catch-can" what the hell do you want to catch used oil coming from your brether for? Just run a hose behind your motor and zip tie it so I looks like it's attached to something. So little acctually comes out that it will never track under your car or on your driveway. IMO the free "no-catch-can" setup is 10X better. I have my PCV and breather both running together out the same hose...

ya i just run two hoses also back to behind the motor that just dump out were ever, its not like oil is dumping, just a mist of oil in the air that comes out, no big deal, also if u got a lot of oil in your pipes its not going to come from your breather, may if its been 100k miles since u check the pipes, but most lilely if its a lot its from the oil seals in the turbo, i currently have alot in mine and its from my beat on turbo. check your turbo for play or and oil in the compressor hosuing easily by removing the intake snorkel or pipe.

dsm jim, i like a few chararistic things on your car from the pic! like the 2 hoses on the throttle body ports, haha i just capped them, never that of that easy way of doing it, also whats with the power wire hanging down by the thermostat hosuing, pic was probably just taken while u were working on that im sure, right? and of course the intake manifold kicks ass. :thumb:

This pic was a work in progress picture. I just photograph everything as I do it. My Magnus SMIM is being featured HCI (Hot Compacts & Imports) Magazine, I think in the january issue, so those are just some pics. I will be making a FAQ for this site once it's released but I was told I could not until the magazine was issued. Once that's done I'll do a blow by blow on the Magnus SMIM install here too.

My best friend (Sean Greene) is a Technical Editor for HCI so I get a lot of tech stuff done on my car. He used to be the Editor for Modified Magazine (I used to work there too :thumbdown ) and before that he worked for Performance Auto & Sound magazine. So you'll probablly see a lot more of my car in that Magazine too.
