normal EGT, what should my guage read

What is normal operating temp for exhaust. What should my EGT guage read between and at what temp should i begin to get worried at?

Looking at EGt alone is not agood idea. best is to have a logger to back up the EGT reading.
Every car reads different.

I think aluminum melts at what? 1500-1600*F?

I would get an aftermarket water and oil temp guage as well. Becouse things like timeing and air/fuel ratio could cause a realy high EGT but normal oil temps. Wich would key you into one of two things is happening.

Air/Fuel mix is being ignited to late and flames are being ejected into your exhaust manifold.

OR

Your Air/Fuel mix is to lean. (on the fuel area)
