I already failed once with the AFC zereod out. I was more that 2X too much on the emissions. Mechanic said way too rich.

I trying to get my car lean enough to pass CA smog.
I have:
-2G MASS
-255 HP fuel Pump (Re-wired)
-550CC Injectors
To tune:
-PalmLogger
-SuperAFC

*My car is running really rich. I can't get it to go lean.
-The car bogs at around +26@1000RM on the AFC.
-It still runs fine all the way down to -50@1000RM on the AFC.
-On the palm logger I'm keeping a current:
RPM:680-750
O2 Trim: 100%
Fuel Trim Low 139%

How can I pass with this setup?
Do I have to:
-Go back to 450cc injectors?
-Purchace a FPR?
~I don't have stock fuel pump anymore.

Thanx,
DeathBeast

If you don't have a AFPR, then you're pushing way too much fuel with the 255 (especially since it's rewired). That could explain why you're running so rich. Might also need to change your spark plugs (depending on how long you've had the 255 in).

So it's the fuel pump pushing too much fuel? What would you do / could I do to pass smog? (Cheapest/Eaisest way)
Could I:
-Swap back in 450s? Or will the fuel pump still be pusing too much fuel?
-Purchace a FPR? Will I need this to run well with my setup anyways?
-something else?

Thanx,

do you have a fresh cat on there?

Thats what I would do...just swap a brand new cat on for the testing, then take it right back off afterwards (and save it for two years :D)

I recently tested my car because I had access to a smog machine (and I tested without a cat)

I got ~.6% CO and ~200ppm HC at idle...same CO at 2500rpms but only 120ppm HC You need 100ppm or less HC to pass and under 1% CO. The tester didn't check NOx. Is this kinda what your car is doing?

Swapping in the 450's won't change anything since the problem lies with the 255 pump. If you're set on keeping the 255 then you would eventually need an AFPR (also a fuel pressure gauge to set base pressure) to tune with.

Since you no longer have the stock pump you would have to spend some bread. What is the biggest turbo you want to run? If it is a 20g or smaller than a 190 pump should work with your setup. Also, I see you have 550's so I guess you wouldn't be going that big in the future.

Installing a 190 pump would be the cheapest route...

This is how my smog paper reads:
(MAX,Gross Polluter,Measured)
*Idle @905RPM [Fail - Gross Polluter]
-HC: (100,250,267)
-CO: (1.00,2.50,2.36)
*2500RPM @ 2480RPM [Pass]
-HC: (130,280,10)
-CO: (1.00,2.50,0.00)

It looks like I'm too rich, and too lean at Idle. How could that happen? Or am I missinterpeting the numbers?

~I think I'm going to go the FPR route. I hope it works.

Thanx,
DeathBeast
