I recently had to put a new head and timing belt on my car, and when putting the timing belt on, i could not line up the cam gears witht the crank pulley perfectly. It seemed like i could have either had the mark on the crank pulley alittle ahead or alittle behind the mark on the block. I am not positive which one i chose, but my car doesn't seem to be running bad. THe thing is that i have a shitty gasket between my o2 and my exhaust so i got a real bad leak, so i have not gotten on it much since i put the car back together. If my timing belt was off a tooth on the crank pulley how much of a differnce would this make? Will i notice a big difference?, if there a way to check my timing without taking my timing belt cover off?
thanx

take off the top timing belt cover (like 2 bolts) and try to line up the marks on the gears. it is very hard to line up dsm timing marks none of them should have been off. it took me like 5 tries and 2 people holding certain things in place. check compression if timing is off compression would be crappy.

i checked the compression and it was good on all the cylinders, accept for the number 2 cylinder. When i checked compression on that cylinder it was like 90 and the other cylinders were good. However, an old trick to see if ur rings are bad is to poor alittle oil in the cylinder to seal things up and the compression went to like 200 or something. Would this be a sign of bad rings or off timing. When i put my belt on the cam gears were lined up, but i couldnt' get the crank pulley to line up
thanx
