Starting another thread for additional things I may need for the install.

Did you guys retain your stock fans, or get slim lines to make way for the kit? Will I be able to retain my stocker?

Does anyone have a picture of how they took care of the water line on a 1g. How should I go about blocking it.

You can remove the water line and by a 3/8 tube thread plug at a Napa or equivalent. I had to den my 2g water pipe significantly to make my 50 trim/SFP fit. When I did the 6 bolt swap though, it cleared the 1g pipe no problem.

I am still putting mine togeather cheak out my profile if you got any questions, I have the FAL fans and they make a ton of room. Did I need them? No, but when I had a 16G I didn't have my heat shields on and I melted my fanOMG Let me know if you have any more questions I would be happy to help:) Good Luck

You can use the stock main fan, if you trim it a little. the AC fan has to go though because of the wastegate. Plenty of room for a slimline fan if you need it though. For the water line do what that other guy said. I used one of the rubber caps off of the charcoal canister (since i removed it) to block off the upper coolant line. It works well that way.

Isn't that your A/C fan in the pic?

I thought the a/c fan was on the transmission side, and the main fan was on the drivers side.

I thought the whole point of the sfp manifold in the AGP kit was for clearence of the water pipe?

It will clear the water pipe, but you have to blockoff the old water line to the pipe, since their turbos are oil cooled, not water cooled.

Or you can just get a 1g NT water pipe that doesnt have the hole. dejontool sells if for $39 i think.

I think its kinda bothersome to install though. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Like I said, it was not even close to clearing my water pipe on the 7 bolt motor. I am definately in the minority on this though so I don't know why. The exact same setup fit fine though after the 6 bolt swap.

i have their 60-1 kit with the S turbo housing and it clears the water no problem....

on blocking off the old water line i just took out the water pipe. cut the hex head off a bolt that fit the threads, screwed it in all the way and then fill it up the entire hole with jb weld...this was after i tried using a plug and it still leaked so i wanted to make sure it didnt leak again.

it only takes like 10min to take the water pipe off when the turbo and manifold it out so ide just take it out and do it right the first time by either getting a n/a water pipe or doing something like i did (or welding it shut) so it wont leak.

about the fans i got a slim fan anyways just so it wouldnt be an issue.

one thing i would definitely reccomend is to get the manifold coated with something...the silver coating mine came with from agp burnt off and looked like shit, either get their new coating option or get some good high temp paint and paint it black.

i have the garret GT40R turbo on my car. you can always use a non turbo water pipe to care of that issue. due to i have the gt series turbo which is also water cooled i had to keep the water lines. i have 2 slimline fans on my set up. sorry for the picture being so dark. you can use to pusher fans if you like. they seem to work best. i already had the two puller fans but added one pusher due to the race core and over heating.

engine bay looks a mess but im redoing my set up currently and am currently extening wires etc etc so they can be hidden under the intake manifold.

Wow, thanks for the imput. I already have my kit sitting here, so I'll just find some high temp spray. Id like to keep in the silver color since it looks niceOMG , but I might just go with some black like you say. Thanks for all the help.

Im sure ill have some ?'s in about a week and a half when I start wrenchin. Later

After I did my timing belt when I started the car it leaked coolant from the water pipe by the water pump (i had removed the pipe while everything was apart to clean it up nice). I was soooo pissed that it was leaking and I thought I would have to redo the whole timing belt section. However after a little backwards thinking I thought I could get the water line off instead. It was a snap, even with the turbo/manifold and everything still hooked up. The manifold gives you a lot more clearance in that area than the stock one. I was lucky.

As far as Mike 99GSX goes, that is very strange that the turbo hit your water pipe. I had to clock mine just right so that bump on the compressor housing didnt hit the water pipe. I know that all the SFP manifolds are custom, and thus each one is slightly different. Maybe that was the problem. I can't really see why it would be an issue of 6 bolt vs. 7 bolt. Strange.

high temp spray paint wont work as well. You really should get it ceramic coated or another high temp coating done proffesionally in my opinion.

Yeah, I can't explain it either. I've got a good 1/4" gap now between the compressor cover and the pipe on the 6 bolt motor. Oh well, I guess everyone is built slightly different:confused:

i will agree that a professional coating (something like jet-hot or hpc) would be better, but if your on a budget i know of one guy that used vht high temp paint and he prolly has well over 8-10k on it and it still looks great...

my friend and i both used some high temp paint from autozone and it also worked really good...get the duplicolor kind though...theres another one that i think pepboys sells that is TOTAL shit..my friend used it first and after we got done curing it it would just rub off with your hand, so he had to strip it down and do it with the duplicolor.

about the black vs. silver...i agree the silver does look nice, but whenever you have any grease or dirt on your hands and you touch the manifold it gets on there and makes it look terrible...plus a black manifold with a polished turbo looks nice:cool:

Are any other 1g's takin their oil from the filter housing using AGP's kit. They told me thats how they sell em now, you cant get it from the head anymore.

well you can use it from the oil filter housing. there are restrictor plates in the turbo so you dont feed the turbo TOO MUCH oil and kill the center cartridge. i would just get it off the head to be safe and put an inline filter on the oil line so you know the oil going in your turbo is nice and clean.

i highly recommend JET HOT COATING. my ceramic coating ive had to applied 3 times cause it keeps fading off. also whenever i get grease on the header it looks all blah. since ive got jet hot things seem cooler in the engine bay, its not fading, its not all dirty with grease and its all bling bling shiny silver. kind of looks like polished up Stainless steel. its liek 100 dollars for a turbo header coating.

Im takin my manifold to a local LS1 shop called SpeedInc, which does headers for camaro's and such. It should be a lil under 100$
