Ok i've decided to send back the cracked 14b i bought, as of right now i have $300, and will have about 450 when i get my money back. SHould i save a little more and go for a 16g? The reason i wanted a 14b was because it is cheap and needed hardly any support..just maybe a fuel pump. I know that if a 16g doesnt have the right support it won't perform at its full potential...my question is, will it perform as good or better than a 14b would if i dont have any fuel upgrades? Since i dont plan on doing fuel mods for awhile would i benefit any from a 16g over a 14b? Sorry for the long post. Thanks for any input!

Ultimately, the 16G pulls better up top and can run higher boost, but if you are willing to keep the boost turned down for a while, I would definitely buy it over a 14B when the money is so close. You won't be disappointed with the 16G. In fact, buy the big if you can get it for similar money.

All i'll probably do for the next 6 months to a year is a fuel pump and rewire...plus full exhaust etc. The most im looking to run is 18 psi. So a 14b at 18psi with minimal mods isnt to far from a 16g at 18 psi with the same mods? Thanks!

Also my friend put a 14b on his 97 gst and we dynoed it at 291.3 hp and 251 1b# of torque. Hope this works.

Wow that is nice! I still just can't decide! I'll probably end up wanting more power anyway..so a used 16g looks like a good route to take, but it would be a good while before i had the money to drop on injectors, afc, logger, etc.. Thanks alot for those graphs, that is nice! Did ur friend ever run his car at a track?

Just the basic mods, intake, full 2.5 turbo back exhaust, s-afc, assorted guages, I believe is o2 housing was ported too. I'm trying to think if there is something else. Strut bars and kyb agx adjustables ect. But that's basically it. The big difference was, I would sit in the passeger seat and tune the s-afc while he was driving. SO tuning was the biggest factor here. We were surprised at the number, we were expecting about 255 whp not 291 and that was still running a little rich and at 90+ degrees out. So there was definatly room for more. We call it the FREAK, I really don't think everyone is going to get the same numbers. BUT we opted for the 14b right now because we didn't have to do any major upgrades and Its really a great turbo for us 2g's, while we are saving for the BIG turbo. HOPE this helps.

Yes he did run at the track, also helped with tuning. Our best times are 13.6. Sorry he has the timeslips but I'll vouch that its true. And yes its a FWD. A combination of practice, practice and tire pressure.

yea i thought about that, but they are just too much $$, i figure a used 16g...450, j-pipe, 75, gaskets etc, 50...all prob around 600, much less then Big28. And i am REALLY tight on money!

Yea i think i'll end up having to go with a 14b, for money reasons. The most im looking to get out of it is mid-high 13's so i think i can do it. The only prob will be finding one in good condition! I thought i had an awesome deal with the ported one i have now but its all cracked up! Thanks for the feed back guys!

I'm curious about the 291 whp car...how much boost was it running and what octane fuel?

Also was that still on the stock sidemount IC and piping?

What mph did it pull on the 13.6 run? What kind of 60 foot times?

Thanks
