Wow do I feel like a newb today. I spent the better part of the day installing my HKS 264/272 cams into my 99 GSX. I have completed most of the work, but ran into a slight snag towards the end. When I attempted to bolt the cam angle sensor piece to the cam... well, the bolt wouldn't thread. At first I thought I had the wrong bolt, but tested it by threading it into the stock cam. I then used a flashlight and looked into the end of the intake cam... and didn't see any threads. Urgh...

So do I need to tap these threads for this to work on my 99, or do I need an intake cam specific to the 97-99 models?

I hate stupid little snags like this... :)

You need to drill and tap it yourself. Tap the hole with a 8mm x 1.25 bottoming tap. The tap SHOULD have the recommended drill bit size on it, that you will need.

Old thread but I'm doing RESEARCH before I install my hks 264/272. It's brand new and never been tap. Before I install anyone has specific instructions on how to go about. I have never tap anything LOL

I've searched on tuners and google. Google came up with the prostreet install, old and don't work. And the rre install. Pix would of been great.

Yes, you will have to know the length of your bolt to drill the hole deep enough. If you do not have a bottom tap (which has cutting threads all the way to the end of the tap) then you will have to go deep enough to have all good threads on the cutting tap.
