I have finally decided that I have outgrown my BIG16G and want to go bigger, however I really like the quick spool times of my small turbo.

I've done a lot of research on turbos over the last few days.

From what I've read the turbonetics ceramic ball bearing turbo would make a KILLER street turbo, the ball bearing center section will let the bigger turbo spool much quicker like a small turbo. The best of both worlds!

I'm leaning toward buying a t3/t4 60trim with the ball bearing center housing. And buying a filtered oil feed line setup.

My only concern is the daily driver part! There seems to be some mixed opinions (no real facts) on how long these turbo's will last? If you are running one of these, your impressions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
John-

Why Turbonetics????? There turbos are only single ball bearings! Check out Innovative Turbo Systems they make Dual ball bearing units which are rebuildable!

another vote for innovative my friend has a 80mm dual ball bearing from them and it seriosly takes about 30 or 40 seconds to stop spinning when you shut the car down. I also bought one for my dsm of course its a little smaller than 80 :D its a t3/t4 setup but it should still make some serious power. check out http://www.raceprovenmotors.com he is an innovative dealer. I would stay away from f2uning in idaho though they were refered to me by innovative and I have had nothing but problems from them. PM me for details if you really want the nitty gritty

The Turbonetics BB does very little to decrease spool time. They dont even claim a spooling improvement, they sell it as a reliability mod. Supply a BB turbo with clean oil at the proper pressure and it will last. Look at FP's BB turbos too.

Innovative Ball Bearing turbos start at 1900. thats why i have what i have now.

Since you flip flop more times than Anna Nicole Smith on Ecstasy, exactly what turbo are you running now? :p

paid 1700 for mine and they do claim decreased spool time right around 800 rpm for the single ball bearing. also on a twin turbo typhoon I beleive it was, they dynoed it switched to the dual BB and at the same boost made like 50 more HP. I wasnt there so take it with a grain of salt. ;)

yep I wish FP would have come out with there stuff last year I would have bought that in a heart beat stainless exhaust housing provisions for wastegate right there too. damn its sweet. and less money too. I should see about sending them mine and seeing if they could swap it out.

turbonetics turbos are great if your making a 9 second drag car, if you want to run around on the street with quick spoil up time then dont get one

very few people have turbonetics turbos in the dsm community for 2 reasons: 1-there is really no need for the ammount of power the majority of turbonetocsturbos make on a dsm, most of their turbos are very big and 2-because you can buy an immitation of most of their smaller turbos made by garrett for about half the price of the turbonetocs unit

He was joking around, due to your 1/4 time (I think..)

Sorry, I never intended to hurt anyone’s vision... Are you going to be OK? :)

What did you find so offensive about my post, anyway? I simply stated some facts:

1. SBR has ball-bearing turbos for that price range and
2. That I have done pretty well on one of them.

I think the consensus is simply this. Based on your amazing accomplishments with your 14B. We think you could have put that thing in the 10's using a Window fan. What you have done with that car is amazing, Much Props.

I see what you are saying, but you are not comparing apples to apples. 14b ET was an example of pretty much a perfect pass given limited power. I do not think that anyone can do much better than 11.84 at 113mph (I am referring to that ET with such low trap speed). However, there are many others who can do 110-112 on a 14b, they just haven’t been able to drive it into 11’s :).

My GT13 on the other hand, makes some pretty high power, but I haven’t been able to put together a clean run to really take advantage of that power :(.

So you can’t really compare the two, my 14b demonstrates good driving, while GT13 demonstrates good power and poor driving :(.

I was considering ITS turbo. Has any one seen their headers? I believe website mentions over $1500 on those bad boys.

Damn...
Oh hell naw, I had planned on gettin a turbonetics T3/T4 Hybird cbb, clipped & ported. I just got black a 97 gst for a trade and I was gonna drop that in it. And my goals ain't that serious for this car(just want a daily driver vette eater/possible mid or high 12s when lonely). I gotta go back and read somethin now...
