shopping for a 6 bolt

I've been looking for a cheap 6 bolt block to replace my walking 7 bolt. If I plan on rebuilding the bottom end, does it matter how many miles the block has on it? A kid is offering to sell me his 6 bolt complete for $300. It has around 120 k miles on it and has seen 11s. It was in good running condition before he pulled the engine. Should I take this deal or would I be better of with a block with less miles to rebuild. Is there anything I should look out for before purchasing the 6 bolt? Thanks

That seems like a good deal for a complete running engine. If you are rebuilding the engine then the only thing that you have to be concerned with is to make sure the crankshaft is in spec, if not you will have to replace it. Other than that you will be replacing everyhting else with other parts.

with a dial caliper and a pry bar. you don't really have to worry about crankwalk in the 6-bolt. if you still want to know,though. www.vfaq.com

Which is funny because every single EVO motor that bolts into our cars are 7 bolts.

$300 is a good deal. If you are going to rebuild it anyhow, what do the miles matter?
