Nothing, but you have to make custom IC pipes for them, Make sure the core is around 3 inches or so. The end cost will still be around $800 or so.

I bought a Spearco core, used victories short route piping, and got couplings from road race. In the end it was about $850.

IC piping isnt that much...i called around town a while ago to see how much it would be to mount the starion on there with the piping and it was around $150 or so. The numbers on that intercooler are 21 X 9 X 3 with 2.5 inlet and 2.5 outlet. Thats pretty good right? For around $250

Has anyone thought of the intercooler from an EVO. I don't know what list price is but I know where I can get them brand new for about $700. This would be the stock FMIC from a '03 Lancer Evolution. It looks big enough and it has inlet and outlet on opposite sides.

Just a thought

I bought a used ATI fmic for $150 and made my pipes for ~$100 (piping/couplers) + $35 (to rent a mig welder for a day). So it can be done for under $300 and fairly easily too.

Worthless.

You can get fullsize Spearco/Griffin/Apexi/Blitz/HK$ cores with end tanks for that much.

well that $700 he is talking about is brand new. You can get em off a wrecked one thats still in good shape for at least half that. Problem is they are pretty hard to find. None on ebay and nobody on here. I have thought of that tho. Anybody know where the evo forums are located?

Why get a EVO FMIC when you can get a brand new spearco core that is much better than the Evo core for the same price? Unless you get a EVO FMIC for next to nothing, I see it as being a waste of time and money.

Hey does anyone know if you could run a GM blowthrough MAF on that Victory Performance intercooler piping? I like the looks of the Victory Performance pipes but I would really like to do the GMMAF conversion. If anyone can give me some insight on this I'd really appreciate it.

I'm not certain, but that VPE pipe kit doesn't look like it is for a front mount. At least not the 1G kit, anyway. Let's say we don't use Ebay for any number of reasons, then I was right about the pricing. So far, it looks like aftermarket FMIC's are above the $1,200 mark. VPE was in that price range.
It was just a thought anyway. I don't think I'll be doing that anytime soon. I gotta sell the OZ first, anyway.

Talk to GSXTCY, he is currently running that setup.

about the 944 IC, there is no way you are going to want to put a 5" thick core in a DSM. The second half of an IC core only does 1/4 the work. So youre better off increasing the number of tubes, like the height or length than having a thick ass core that will not cool that much more than somethingk like a 3" core. Hotter air comes out the back of thick cores and your radiator will not be able to cool things down as well so that could be a prob with using the porsche core

the best bet on a cheap IC is really just to get a used one. otherwise a spearco or griffin core with some custom pipes or a piping kit is the best bet for a 2G

Can you tell me why(and be specific) is the Spearco FMIC "better". From the info I have gotten, The concept of "better" depends on the intended use. The race application FMIC's actually restrict air flow to keep them working at higher speeds. The FMIC from and EVO is a large area FMIC and it will not restrict the airflow as much as a race FMIC from Spearco (or whoever). I, myself, would rather have a FMIC that allows me to drive the car daily without any concern for the cooling system. I see blowing my money on that Spearco FMIC from the Ebay link as a waste of time and money. Not to mention that the price I was quoting "$700" was the reg price that this guy is selling them for. Also, remember these are brand new, in the box, direct from Mitsu. This is the same guy I just got a 2G exhaust manifold for $165, also brand new in the box. He can get more of those as well, but he charges $175 for them, I know him so he cuts me some slack. Anyway, I still think that when it comes right down to it, what's right for one person is not right for another. If only the best racing parts were worth buying, then NO-ONE whould have a lousey 16G turbo on thier car. We would all have some crazy hybrid thing that make like 1500 HP. and everyone would run sub 7sec 1/4 miles. Isn't life grand?

Who said I was having cooling issues?? I am not having any problems with the car and I would say it hasnt felt this good ever. This would be my daily driver as well;).

I see blowing my money on that Spearco FMIC from the Ebay link as a waste of time and money.

Explain how I wasted my time and money?? I got a pretty damn good intercooler with short route piping for about ther price of a Greddy IC or Apex Core. If anything I got a good deal.

Anyway, I still think that when it comes right down to it, what's right for one person is not right for another.

Prolly the only thing I will agree with you on.

 Now your just a ass.

If you want to run a Evo FMIC go away, its not my money. My opinion is its not finicially or worth wild to do.

I never said YOU had cooling problems. I live in AZ. When a car is not at it's optimal cooling capacity, it usually leads to cooling problems.

I think you did great, YOU GOT WHAT YOU WANTED. That's all that matters.

[ Now your just a ass. ]

 You said why buy some piece of crap FMIC (that's not even a piece of crap) You said buy a racing one. You said to go ahead and waste my money and time if I want to. BUT SOME HOW, I'm AN ASS?! If maybe you responded to the first post with some dignity and respect I wouldn't have made such a rediculous comment.

THERE'S SOME FOOD FOR THOUGHT.

[If you want to run a Evo FMIC go away, its not my money. My opinion is its not finicially or worth wild to do.

If I want to get an EVO FMIC, I will. If I decide to do differently, please understand it has NOTHING to do with YOUR input.
