Ive heard of the HKS SS BOV leaking, thats what i have, not im concerned. How do i know if its leaking?

I'd like to know also, because ever since i put my HKS SS on at 16PSI, I can't boost past 10...its either the BOV or my UICP w/ home depot couplers...I think thats what it is though...

Home Depot couplers are designed for low (if not none)pressure so they aren't really designed for IC couplers. Large truck coolant hose seems to work well. Dejon Tool uses that to package with thier intake and IC piping. If your leaking, best way to find a leak is to make a leak tester from the V-faq instructions..

I thougth the SSQ bov wasnt supposed to leak at all, since its a pull type instead of a push type. Am I right on this?

Make a lot of sense, im probly not leaking or anything i was just curious it still sounds NASTY!! I love the HKS SS BOV, but does anyone know the difference from the greddy type s blow off? In Sound?

those with the hks ssqv: are you experiencing any difficulties from venting to atmosphere?

considering hks ssqv, how bout that sound file? SCC quoted it as sounding "like a seal being beaten to death."

On this subject. I have my stock BOV yet. It has a 170,000 miles on it. Whic to me could maybe lead to a bad seal. Has anyone found a good way to test if a BOV leaks. Or should I just invest in a new one to be safe ?

I've been venting since last April, and never stall, you just have to make sure your dump tube is plugged, or in my case "kinked" between something so no airflow can get into it and you'll be fine. before I get flamed, I know its not good to vent....wahh wahh....

I have been venting forver .... funny thing is I had a greddy type s and it was recirculated and I ran a 13.0 ... then I changed over to the hks ssqv and I'm atmosphere venting it and ran a 12.8. This was all in the same night ... temps were abut the same too.

Check out www.dsmreviews.com . They have reviews of various BOV's. The TurboXS RFL caught my eye, it's adjustable by washers instead of a screw (Greddy) and I haven't heard any problems yet. (I know a guy with a WRX w/ J-spec STI swap pushing 20 psi, and a guy with an SRT-4, no troubles) I would recommend it for a BOV to be vented, but then I'd also recommend to support it with a blowthrough GM MAF & MAFT. It's the right way to go.

Jeez... Don't you people read the VFAQ's? You all should be going there for information www.vfaq.com

You want to build what is called an "Intake Leak Tester" You hook it up to the inlet of the turbo (while the car is of, and cool helps to not burn the hands), clamp it down, and pressurize the intake. Any leaks you have will be obvious hissing sounds.

http://www.vfaq.com/mods/ICtester.html

Those are how to build one, takes about $5 in home depot parts.
