Hi guys and gals-

I just bought a 1990 eagle talon tsi awd. I know that something is wrong with the engine. It blows white smoke and doesnt stop. I think that white smoke is cooliant buring, but i am not sure. It might be a blown head gasket or water in the gas. The car sat in the driveway for about 3 months. It also has a oil leak. There is oil all over the turbo and the one motor mount. What should I do? Rebuild? Jdm? If I were to rebuild what parts do you think that I would need? I think new gaskets for everything and a new timong belt, but besides that what would I need. The car has 109,000 miles on it. It is stick shift and the turbo was replaced less than a year ago. Please help me.

i'm also new to dsm's ... started about 6 months ago, but i'm learning something new about them everyday. for me, when i got my first dsm, it was a 91 fwd turbo laser. i had the same symptoms you have. one day it was puffing white smoke, did a compression test and it came to a conclusion that my head gasket was bad. i replaced it along with a new timing belt. then i checked compression again and it was still low, and that was the very end of my first turbo dsm. my laser had bad piston rings. so i gutted and junked it. i got me a 1990 mitsu gsx afterwards and that damn thing is fun. so right now i got a spare motor to fully build up and lots of spare parts for my gsx.

i think you should do a compression test and go from there on. if it reads bad compression, then there would be two options in my opinion. i would fully rebuild the motor (pistons, rods, etc) or if you don't have much time...get another motor.
