How much boost can the stock intercooler handle

I'm about to buy a turbo and was wondering if the stock side mount was good enough to run 18psi. I know it won't be cooling as much i need but will still cool enough so that my car will still run safe on 18psi. A fmic is in the future but i can only afford the turbo now.

boost isnt the same from turbo to turbo.. 18psi on a T25 is ALOT different then 18psi on a 20G.. itd help if yuo gave us more information

Also what kind of conditions? Long periods WOT you won't be able to run much over 14psi.

the Big28 is ok on the stock sidemount.. id say 18psi would be alright but the intercooler would definitely be holding you back.. an upgraded side mount wouldnt be to bad but ofcourse the fmic is the way to go if you really wanna make power

A fmic is defintly the way I'm going but that will probably be a Christmas present from my whole family since everyone gives me money. I've got to have for both perfomance and looks. Nothing looks meaner than a fmic staring you down.

By the way larry how do you like your Greddy fmic. If you had to over again would you still buy that intercooler.

if I had to do it over again id have got a speaco custom fmic.. problem is the pipes would have had to have been made.. i still may do this and sell my greddy eventually.

Is the greddy worth the price or is having to make your own piping worth the trouble.

depends on what your looking for what you want out of yer car.. my turbo is really to much for the greddy fmic so ive been told by many people but Im holding out till i can figure out exactly what I want to do

i used to run a supra sidemount on a 14b and it was awesome, no heat soak whatso ever, now i run the apex-i gtr core, and love it even more
