My friend has a 1997 talon tsi. He wants to get a 3 inch downpipe and cat-back. If he does not port his exhaust maniford and o2 housing right away will he have any problems? On the web site it says that you must do this. Will he get boost creep or anything else. If you have a buschur set up respond.

Does the kit come with everything that he needs? I know that it is loud. Does he need a new oil filter? Does anyone know a good place in the midwest near Iowa to have the exhaust manifold ported as well as the 02 houseing. Or does anyone have a opion what a good downpipe (maker and size) of a good downpipe for a t-28 or a 16g.

I got the BR 2.5" system on my 2g and didnt have any creep issues until I got the test pipe. Porting will be requred with a TP, or an the 3" system. Unfortunately its kind of a waste to do any porting on a t25 though. Although I disagree, some poeple say that with the t25 you dont have to wrry about creep since boost drops off anyway.... I would get a 20 dollar die grinder at walmart, a 9 dollar carbide bur from mcmastercarr.com and just open up the WG hole. Takes 20 minutes, and may help, without wasting too much time or money on a t25. But then again a t25 (he does have that right? you never said what turbo) doesnt have an easy way to get the turbine housing off like the mitsu turbos, so that would mean removing the turbo. LOL. I give up. Hopefully my ramblings give you guys some ideas... :)

How much is the DSM tuners discount? I'm looking for an exhaust myself and so far, the best I can find is 700 for a Buschur 3" stainless mandrel turbo-back.

HBM4G63 originally posted this thread on my behalf because I was too lazy to register my own account. I'd like to ask more for opinions and suggestions because my own modding experience is terribly limited. Thus far I've only installed a K&N FIPK and I'd like to keep it a daily driver. My ultimate goal (at least in the immediate economic future) is to have a moderately fast sleeper. My brother's RX7 is pissing me off. As HBM4G63 mentioned, I'm thinking of upgrading my turbo, but I'd like to keep it looking stock so I was thinking T28 ...
Anyways, to keep it on topic, I'd like to ask for help in deciding what kind of exhaust to go for. I've read numerous threads on the subject, but I'd like to hear more personal opinions rather than just what people 'read' about and regurgitated.
Thanks guys!

Froo-

I think that you should get the hahn race craft full exhaust or the downpipe and a Apex'i N1 cat back. Also you need to buy a turbo timer as well as boost gague. I will buy the pod back on friday.

RAWR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah it always takes me a minute to find it... Look under "Parts Treating, Abrasives, and Finishing", then "Burs and Rotary Files."
:)

You definitely can not use a drill. You need about 20k rpm for it to work well. Walmart for 20 bucks, you cant go wrong. I use it almost weekly. As for the bur, I have two. I started with a 3/8 by 3/4 pointed tree. Great for getting into small areas and making curves. But for taking out massive amounts of material, like porting inlet to 7cm gasket, a 1/2 by 1" cylindrical, with rounded cut end throws chips like a champ. OMG) Good luck.

95GSXracer, i went to Walmart today and all i could find is a air die grinder, i don't have a air tank or compresser. Should they have a cordless or electric one cause i couldn't find it. I found a rotary tool, it looked like the die grinder but i didn't want to get it without noing. It is made by Handi works or something similar.
