I just got these cams installed in my car 2 days ago(install was done by TSS, those guys are great, they got it done fast and at a very reasonable price), and I have been doing quite a bit of driving around. I only want to say one word about these cams, GREAT!.

My car is moderately modded running FPBig28, 650cc, S-AFC, fuel mods, UICP, LICP, Full exhaust system, and stock everything else, running 16 - 17 pounds of boost on 92 octane.

After the cam install, the car idles great, vacuum went from -19 to -15ish, the exhaust has blurb blurb blurb noise, you can definately tell that car has a meaner tone to it.

First thing I have noticed is that car is more responsive, consistent and fun to drive around. These cams are very streetable, and much better than stock. It feels like it gained some low end power as well as high end power. Car feels stronger throughout the power band. Power delivery is really smooth too, car starts pulling hard around 3000 rpm, and goes all the way to 7500 without any hesitation and car wants to keep pulling unlike the stock cams that would slow down close to red line.

Overall I am really happy with this purchase, I would rate cam upgrade very high on the performance upgrade list, they probably made the biggest difference right after turbo upgrade.

Other things I have noticed after the cam install, today it was over 100 degrees and very humid, car still felt very strong. Usually when the wether is hot like today, I don't even want to drive my car because it feels slow and inconsistant, sometimes it is fast sometimes it is not, not today, it was always very consistant and strong.
Also, My EGT temps are lower by 200 degrees or so when crusing, that though may be due to hot temperatures outside, so I need to do more observing.

I did not datalogged yet to see my timing, and I have not changed my S-AFC settings after the install(since car has been running so much better even in hot weather!) so I will be doing those in the next couple of days.

Overall I am very satisfied and I will be posting my timing results to see if there was any change there.

I have heard that on a lightly modded car the 264/264 is better.

I would like to correct that my EGT temps were not lower by 200C degrees, but 20C - 30C degrees cooler, that was a typo.

Also the idle is not really rough, but you can tell it is not stock either, it idles very well at 600 - 800 rpm range. I will see if I can record the exhaust note.

Where did u buy the cams from and how much did it run you ? I hear so many good things about them. That is my next mod for sure.

That sounds absolutely.... Harley-like. :thumb:

I still want to hear 264/264.

Does anyone know how different cams would alter emissions? Wouldn't the o2 sensor adjust and emissions would be fine?

great review..

i too would like to know how all of this will effect emissions and smog.. would we still pass with this kind of setup.. 264/264.. or 264/272..

i swa the video.. very nice.. sounds very aggressive on idle.. as someone mentioned.. "harley like"

Sorry, I was re-organizing my files and folders.

This movie was taken on one of the first few times the car started up after swapping to a 1g head/intake back in March. The lumpy-ness is do to poor vacuum because of some intake leaks which I needed to work out. The idle actually sounds much smoother now. I need to grab a new movie of the car which has since undergone a complete 6-bolt race motor swap and sheetmetal intake :)

My 264/272's idle WAY smoother than that. However, they DID sound like that when my timing was one tooth off...

Thats actually about right if you put the camera mic down by the muffler. My car sounds like that with 272's and it idles at 750-850. but only if i stick my head down by the muffler. at the froot of the car it should very smooth and quiet.

did u put in new cams and valve springs or just new cams???

OK fellas... I've been thinking about going with the 264/272 combo with my FP Big28, only because I may go to a larger turbo on down the road. Can anyone give me a roundabout price, on what it's going to run me to have the cams installed? Also... should I get new cams seals? Thanks for the info!!
