alright i know exhaust stuff have been covered a bunch of times. but i need something answered here. i am looking into both the hks hiper and apexi n1. on the websites it says the hks hiper's piping is bigger then the piping on the apexi. but then i read reviews and other posts saying that the hks is not a true 3 " exhaust. So is the apexi a true 3" or do they both neck down to 2.5 at the same spot ? Im only interested in these 2 because i like the n1 style muffler. please help me out. i want one now!!:p

Or you could get a GOOD 3" exhaust from any reputable DSM shop, and use an N1 or N1 clone muffler.

u might not like the look of the muffler but the thermal turbo back system is the nicest sounding iv seen and it looks nice as well, plus its truly 3" all the way from downpipe to the muffler and gives u a good ammount of power
not that apex parts arent great but i think the thermal is better in terms of power and sound, thermal exhausts are the best on almost every car iv seen them on, from hondas to dsms, but i guess that just my opinion
but it isnt cheap, a thousand for an exhaust system is kinda pricey, but i think extreme motorsports offers package deals for a 2g that include the thermal turbo back for a pretty good deal, u might want to look into it

Basically all the brands like Apexi N1 and Greddy are going to have resonators and neck downs in various spots of the exhaust system. You want to find one that doesn't have any of these necks downs and still looks good. There are a few compnies out there that sell these, but if you are just looking for something that looks good and is expensive then go for the name.

Both systems are crap, go with a *real* 3" exhaust. RnR has the best prices on *turbo back* systems i have seen so far. Other options are Thermal, ATR and Buschur.

im not too worried about a true 3" exhaust. i just want something that flows better then stock and looks good. Im even considering the apexi dunk. Anyone have this exhaust? btw my goal is 350 to the wheels. The thermal doesnt look too bad either. anyone have a clip of what it sounds like? i heard it was kinda domestic sounding.

490 for a cat back is too expensive that includes an adapter and silencer? Jeeeze...

My 2G AWD N1 is three inch inner diameter. I bought a 2 hole, 3 inch inner diameter gasket earlier down at ye olde NAPA, and it's a perfect match. I don't know where you guys are getting these crazy tiny exhaust systems from Apexi. Hell, I'll even take a picture tonight with a measuring tape if you doubt me.

Personally, I don't think the "gains" of missing a pair of resonators, and what not are really worth it, especially for a daily driver. Maybe if you want to play weekend warrior. *shrug*

I got my Apexi shipped the day I ordered it, and I like it for the fact that 1) The silencer 2) The ease of adaptation to a full 3" system with one of their (Which I will happily admit, aren't that great compared to RRE's) or RRE's downpipes, and having a seperate adapter attached to the stock downpipe for the once a year sniff test.

the thermal sounds deep, like a turbo car should, ever heard a supra with a nice exhaust on it? it sounds almost like that, ur not going to get that buzzy sound out of an exhaust on a turbo car like u would on a honda
the extreme 3" turbo back is also nice, and unlike the thermal u can get it with a resonator if u want one, look at what exhausts the dsm speciality shops sell, take extreme motorsports for example, they only offer the thermal and the extreme, an apexi will end up costing u more and giving u less power
honestly u can get an exhaust from a local exhaust shop if u can find a muffler u like, thats what my car came with when i bought it, a 3" cat back with a 4" muffler that has a 3" inlet, and a downpipe thats 2.5" at the o2 and 3" at the cat, my best friend has the extreme full 3" turbo back and u honestly cant hear any difference in them, from a block away they sound the same
and when u think about cost u can get my exhaust for under $500, its mandrel bent but on 1 or 2 of the bends the inner size reduces to about 2.8", a name brand turbo back will run u near a thousand, just make sure u dont get ripped off and suckered into buying one that bevles down to 2.5" at the cat, many exhausts claim to be full 3" but are only 2.5" at the cat, make sure it has either a 3" high flow cat or a race pipe
