Is it true that the Walbro 255 lph HP fuel pump (made for 2g) is better for the 1g than the 1g pump itself?

the only thing ive heard is that the 255 doesnt really overrun the 1g regulator because of the lower base pressure.

I don't think that answered my question :/
I mean...why would I want a "2g walbro pump" for my 92 talon instead of the "1g walbro pump"?

I would assume they flow the same but they do have different part numbers.

1g AWD - GSS341
1g FWD - GSS342
2g FWD/AWD - GSS342

Correct. Both of those kits use the GSS342 Pump. They have different pump filters so the GSS341 comes with that other filter.

Acctually there is no such thing as a GSS341 pump however some sites call the GSS342 for the 2G cars and the GSS341 for 1G cars. Just so when people order from the internet they know what install kit to send them. It's pretty stupid and confuses people like this thread but thats what happens.

the bottom of both pumps are different, one is turned 180 degrees so it will be able to install properly on the car, so if you buy the 2g pump it will connect on top without a problem(they are the same) but on the bottom it is the wrong way for the pickup and thats why they have GSS341 AND GSS342

So what would be a reason for me wanting the 2g version in my 1g?
My friend kind of confused me when he told me that I should get the 2g version.

not to be a jerk or anything but 90-94 fwd and 95-98 fwd/awd have GSS342 255 pumps and 91-97 3000gts and 90-94 awd has GSS341 pumps, thats according to walbro and thats whats different about them.

so if you were able to put the pump thats supposedly different you just proved that walbro is wrong....

ok i removed my 2g walbro and put it in my 1g, here was the problem, im sure the actual pump is the same, but on the 2g theres a direct connect for a harness, on a 1g there are two wires that just get put on with a bolt, you gotta cut them and put clip ends on them and plug them into the plug on the fuel pump, basically nothing, i think thats the only diff, and i had to use the bottom plastic holder from a 2g, and it didnt fit, so the pump sits on a slight angle cuz its a little too big, but it works fine

when i got my 1g walbro it came with the little harness thingie. i swear it was a 10 minute swap from my friends 2g to my 1g. no problems at all.

Ummm yes it does, when i installed my 255 my idle fuel pressure was 52 psi.

hey. i know this now. i heard that from a pretty reliable source so i posted it. i was misinformed.

The pumps are exactly the same! I'm not sure if people are not reading my post or what the hell is going on. I am a Walbro dealer and I have 928347298734 of these pumps sitting at the shop. The 341 and 342 are the same damn pump. The 341 number is only so we know what friggin install kit to send you. The pump is exactly the same flow and design The orintation of the base may be slightly different however that isn't enough for me to say it's different! They are the same friggin thing. So what if one has the pickup on one side and one on the other. They are the same and will work in any car you want. You can put a FWD pump in an AWD car and vice versa, just order whatever the hell you want.

Yeesh... I'll send you a damn Civic install kit and any random 255 pump and it will work on your DSM so relax guys Its all the same shiznit! You guys LOVE to argue about nothing.

I just got a used 255 hp off of a guy online. Its for a 1g awd, what do I need to get it workin rite...?
