Hi I am lookni got buy a new exhaust and I am curious as to which will benefit me the most? Just toss out some names of exhausts and your opinions on them. I personally like the HKS Dragger II and the HKS Hiper.

HKS is not a bad exhast. How much are you looking to spend?

Later,

I guess im lookin to spend around 500 mabe a little more. What can I get thats good for that much??

For that price most people will recommend the ApexN1 or the Thermal. I would personally go with the N1 since it easily adapts to be a true 3" all the way through when and if you decide to upgrade the DP and Test pipe or high flow cat.

I have a Thermal 3 inch and it is defintely 3 inch the entire way. It is probably one of the BEST looking exhausts Ive ever seen as far as quality of parts, welds, sound.. Id recommend 3inch Thermal.

There are quite a few exhaust systems on the market for DSM's. I was very surprised at how many when I was shopping for a exhaust system a few months ago. A few that come to mind are:

Apex'i N1
(don't know if it still exists but....) Apex'i Dunk
HKS Dragger
Tanabe (can't remember the name)
Thermal Research

Also when YOU say exhaust I don't know if you mean "cat-back" or "turbo-back".

But then there's Phantom Road Works. I bought a "turbo-back" from PRW and the WHOLE system cost me $485 shipping INCLUDED. PLUS I bought a turbo inlet pipe, and that $485 was the grand total of all of it. I am moderately happy with my PWR Turbo-back. I would have been more pleased......but shipping a whole exhaust system to Germany was a B*%#@ !! I waited nearly 2 months, but it finally arrived after I pestered them for 6 wks. What it really comes down to is how much you have to spend and what you want it to sound like. I persoanlly like the way my 2 1/2" Mandrel Bent system with Arospeed muffler sounds.
Hope you find what you are looking for.

To clarify the Thermal is a three inch system, but it does reduce down so that it can connect to the stock cat.

The difference between the Thermal and the N1 with 3" piping is that that reducing section on the N1 is a sepereate piece while the Thermal is not. Therefore, if you wanted to go to a full three inch system you would need to cut the reducing section of the Thermal of and have a flange or 3" replacement section welded on.

Here is a pic of the reducing section for the ApexN1, notice how it is its own seperate piece that can easily be removed.

Ahh.. let me clarify myself as well.. I have the Hahn Eliminator 3 inch ss DP that goes straight into a 3 inch ss test pipe with floating flanges. From there it bolts directly to my 3-bolt flange Thermal with no reducer :)
BTW wtf are those ground straps on the exhaust for? I cannot find any functionality for them.

For $500, you can get a custom turbo back made. Go to www.roadraceegineering.com and look at their DIY page. That will have all the bends and flanges you'll need. Also, hot rod shops have U-bends, 90 bends, and 45 bends too, which are usually cheaper. Then find a muffler you like (Magnaflow, Dynomax are good one's) and take all of it to a good muffler shop and have them weld it all up for you. Cost in parts is between $100-$250, and labor should be another $100-$200, depending on if have a cat, want a test pipe, etc. Most muffler shops should carry all the straight piping you need. IMHO, all those aftermarket exhausts are nice, but an exhaust is just bent metal, it's not a turbo or fuel controller, so anyone can make a good one w/ minimal effort.

I agree 100%. I have the Thermal and love it. It is a full 3" system and is made of Stainless Steel. The quality of the product is excellent. The only downside is that if you want a full 3" turbo back you will have to cut off the reducing section but that isn't that big of a deal.
