As most of you know i bought my GSX a month ago, and since that time i've been fixing things that needed attention, rewired or reconected something that were done wrong, and bought controlers, parts, ect.. to get the car tuned and running right.

my current problem is this; while i was checking the clutch out and adjustment rod (trying to figure out my shifting problem), i noticed that my 3" exhaust doesn't have a flex pipe.

my buddy john and louis have been helping me get all the minor porblems work out thus far. i was told that i needed that flex pipe other wise i was going to continue to blowing o2 gaskets.

the gasket blew the first time when i had my accident. some girl cliped the front end of my car and sent me through the curb of a gas station and i put a dent on my down pipe. this probably made my o2 gasket come loose along with not having a flex pipe.

i've tried looking for a flex pipe to buy, but all i could find were the exhaust being sold as a whole. is there anywhere i can go to just buy a 3" flex pipe by itself?

thanks for the help jim. i guess i need to see what kind of shape my hangers and motor mounts are in then decide weather to keep it as is or for the protection of my o2 housing, turbo, and exhaust mani to put the flex section back on and loose 10% of air flow. :(

ok my new question is ... what would you guys do if you were in my position?

I would install a downpipe with the flex, I have heard that this will incress the chance of cracking your exhaust manifold from the engine bucking. But then that all depends on if you ever stomp it from a stand still too. If you drive like a granny and I HIGHLY doubt that, then i doubt that would be a problem.

But with a 3" exhaust I dont think the flex section is going to hurt preformance for you.

I would say get the flex section. With a 3" system you won't be loosing air flow. If you do it won't be anything that makes difference in power. I did one once without a flex and it cracked in a month of daily driving.

thanks guys, that's what i was waiting to hear. i was already leaning towards buying the flex pipe for that same reason.

thanks everyone for your imput, and thanks jim for posting the site.
