Well it has happened, i have had my new car for about...maybe a week and a half and i am already starting to have problems. I have a feeling its going to be a long long long road ahead that i am going to have to travel down. So let me give you a run down of what happened. So i decide that i am going to go visit my friend who i haven't seen in god knows how long. Problem is he lives like 1 hour away, so im on the way i get about maybe 20 miles from my house and guess what my car won't go above 3500 rpm and i can't build boost. So im thinking great i really got something ####ed up this time. So im trying to listen and see if i hear any noise or anything out of the ordinary and it sounds like dirt is pouring through the vents and onto the floor of my car(not a good sound). Then the bad shit happens my car just dies not the electrical and stuff but the engine. I pull over to the side of the freeway and try to crank it over nothing just a whining noise like a lawnmower almost. So i pop the hood and what do i see a cracked timing belt cover with pieces of shredded rubber sticking out. So im guessing my timing belt is snapped and i have a bad feeling something else big is broken too. which sucks but what can you do. So i figure while its in the shop i mights as well get the rebuild done that i have been thinking about since the engine has 122k on the clock. I was thinking 2g pistons with 1g rods what do you guys think i don't plan on making huge power enough that the stock internals can handle but nothing crazy any suggestions on what else you all might think is wrong with the engine and what i should do in the rebuild?

i feel like crying now:cry:

Dude, i feel ya.
I bought my car a little over a year ago, and i drove it 3!! days *SNAP* there goes the timing belt and ALL 16 valves.
Now, after a new clutch and minor things i spun a rod bearing. She is now undergoing a 6 bolt swap. So its not all bad :D Just keep pluggin away, the first time you romp on a car you despise its worth it. Good luck man.

Now you know, if your car isnt working right STOP IMMEDIATELY it will not fix itself! And more driving will only make it worse.

I too am doing a 6bolt swap.....

^^^dont know if you were trying to be an ass with that comment and call me stupid or something but all this happened within a matter of maybe 30-45 sec while i was taking the off ramp from one freeway to the next even though i wanted to stop right away there was no place for me to pull over till i got off the merging lane.

haha not as bad as, but also not as good as when my timing belt slipped.
i was driving for the whole day with it backfiring, probably 50kms,and then it realy started acting up, like stalling and running terribly......just as i was heading down my hill,(i live at the bottom of a hill)it stalled mid throttle.....and wouldn't start! and i was so worried it was the timing belt snapping. so i coasted home out of gear and when i got home, the belt was intact...a very good thing.
turns out it slipped and retarded about 2 or three teeth. just enough for it to not run but just enough to not bend all my valves(thats why i got the car for 300 bucks in the first place).the crank bolt worked its way loose somehow......i guess i forgot locktight on the rebuild. if its not running good dont drive it! haha i know this from experience! but not tryin to slag on ya, just tellin my little story of luck.

well today i was able to take off the timing belt cover and this is what i found. Basically i i should just go to prison and bend over cause i just got raped.

mine slipped a tooth while i was at work so i drove home with it acting crappy and stuttering, well i was pretty sure it was the t-belt, it was new so i wasnt worried of it breaking, well i got home and took it to friends shop, and it slipped again a day later and made the most horrible clacking valvetrain noise ive ever heard, was so loud, but i didnt bend any valves and i got it fixed the next day, my tensioner like flopped closed or something, i dont remember exactly what
