my 16g has some shaft play, i don't know how much but it has some, and i know it's leaking oil, cause when i first start my car up in the mornings i see whitish smoke.

the reason for the change is, recently i took it to the track and at 18psi and with a 2.0 60ft i ran a 14.9. everyone and there brother is telling me i should be alot faster with all my mods (see profile).

i've checked and considered everything else and the turbo is the last thing i know of, but could shaft play really hinder performance that much?

no, i don't have any kind of tuning, i'm picking up an safc pretty soon if the price is right. i'm still running the stock 450's, but i know some people who are in the low 13's with just bolt-ons and running stock injectors with just a bigger fuel pump.

Well first of all if you get at 60 foot down, you should run at least a 14.4
With your mods you are probly in desperate need of tuning, its probly so f'd up that you are going slower with the more mods you have put on.
But do a boost leak test, and a compression test.

i know my compression is good across the board, i haven't done a boost leak test yet. when you mention tuning, you mean going to a dyno with a wideband or what? the only thing i have access to is a safc right now.

Something is definately wrong here. On my 14b equipped 2G, I ran a 13.6 @ 98.1 MPH at 19PSI with a 1.90 60'. It was 95 degrees when this run was made. My 60 foot sucked because my wheels were spinning. If you've already done a compression test, do an intake leak test. I did this a few weeks ago and found a monster leak on my BOV gasket. Helped things out a lot.

Matt.

I'm also having a similar problem. I ran a 13.5 @ 103mph with my 14b(fully ported) on 110 octane gas. I switched to a small 16g and ran a 14.0 at 96mph on 116 octane gas. The temp. was hotter on the day I ran the 13.5. Nothing else has changed other than the turbo about my set up. Also, these runs were made only about a month apart. I can't figgure it out because the 16g feels like it pulls much harder in the mid range than the 14b.
