couplers for gm maf

ok i installed the gm maf and translator. I used these crappy home depot 2.5 to 3 inch couplers for now, and ordered 2.5 - 3 inch couplers from RRE. Well I got them today and they don't fit around my 3" maf cuz i guess the maf is 3" inner diameter and so the 3" side of the couplers wont fit around it. So I'm wondering what everyone else uses to connect these things to there IC piping. These home depot ones keep blowing off or ripping. It's gettin really annoying. These clamps are the only things holding my car back from being pretty quick right now, and its annoying as hell. so if sumone could please tell me what they used id really appreciate it. by the way, if u care, it's setup blow thru style. thanx

I read they same complaints about the home depot ones, and I remember a site people listed on where to get more, but I can't remember the thread exactly. It might have been in the 35page plus original thread on the gm maf; I believe the threads in the tuning section now. Maybe do a search on here for couplers. I remember people saying extreme motorsports carried them, but they were discontinuing selling them soon.

If you find some, shoot me a PM please because my maf is coming in a week or so. I'm going to do blow through like you too. How did you mount the maf in the upper ic pipe? I've got the dave brode upper ic pipe. I figure throttle body metal elbow to 1 2.5 to 3" coupler, then the 3" maf, then another 3" to 2.5 coupler. But then I'm not sure how to get it to mate with the brode upper ic pipe. Any pis of your install?

Over all how do you like it? More spool, more horespower, better throttle response?

well if u wanna see a pic, just check my gallery. All i did was used a die grinder and cut my IC pipe so that there was enought room for the MAF. Also I gotta friend who knows the RRE guys pretty good, and he said RRE should have some custom couplers in like a week that will fit GM MAF's. Dunno the price yet though. But also, if u buy a coupler, don't get a 3" one, cuz i think the maf's are 3" INNER diameter, and their outter diameter is more, which is why the 2.5"-3" couplers from RRE would not fit the thing at all. Anyway, still if anyone can let me know where they got theirs id really appreciate it. Oh and you asked about horsepower and spool. Well my horsepower went way down because i can't even boost do to these crap home depot couplers. And about spool, i can't really say because along with the MAF, i also put in a garrett 50 trim kit, 3" intake, fmic, 3" downpipe and test pipe, 660 injectors. So i mean, if anything the spool is a little slower because it's a bigger turbo, but the spool difference isn't because of the maf. But hey, the good thing about it is im venting without any problems at all!!! latez

me612, try all that shit i said to get em on. if they dont work, go to napa. you can buy a 2.5"-3" connector that will work with a horrible amount of effort ($10 a piece). part #8097 in the napa hose catalog. got someother part # at any other store and costs 2x as much anywhere else.

putting it in the oven at 120 or so degrees was the best idea i ever had! got the second one on in about 2 minutes!
