ok guys i melted my stock radiator fan for some odd reason i still dont know why. the car wasnt even hot. sooooo i purchased a 13x15 slim line flex-a-lite fan to replace it i was told by DSMmotorsports that this was the fan for the car. well the fan fits for $h1t and you have to punch holes in the radiator to mount it wich i dont like and not all the hardware you need comes with it in the box. that was not told to me by DSMmotorsports you need some sort of lil box transmiter thing the directions suck for a$$ and by me saying that i didnt get any. and the box was all screwd up. i dont know if this is product of DSMmotorsports or UPS. all in all im pissed and need some info on how to get this fan in a lil bit better and working. please help one pissed off tuner.

Well why did your fan melt? Did you remove the lower heat sheild that covers the o2 housing and turbo? I have a VP o2 dump and the heat sheild will not fit and no problems here. Just trying to figure out why it melted. Sorry cant help you with the new fan!

yea the shiled wont fit so i dont have it on anymore maybe thats why but still i cant figure out what i need to make the new fine wire up. any help would be great.

Well you dont have to worry about mounting the new fan now. What I would do is look at your setup and figure out why your old fan melted. Just replacing it is not the answer. Something is wrong. How much of the fan is melting a lot or just one place? Is your exhaust leaking and your shooting hot exhaust on the fan or something? Do you have a custom down pipe that is too close? If your setup is all stock then something else is wrong causing this to happen cause I have run my car pretty hot and never even come close to melting a fan...

you need to block the heat coming from the turbo. If its getting hot enough for the fan to melt Im wondering what your water temp. looks like. I would correct that problem immediately and if you don't have a water temp gauge get one.

0k well i found out the problem my car was running super super super lean and i mean lean so i am changing the injectors and my air fuel settings on my s-afc but other then that i think it was making the exhaust temps retarded high. causing the fan to melt. im going to try some diffrent injectors tomarrow. i will let ya know how things go. thanks again for all you help.

Well that sure ISN'T good, if it was hot enought to melt the fans like that, becouse it was runing that lean, your shit must have been glowing hot, which i would guess as lean as you make it out to be the temp in the cyl must have been something around or above 1500C and if thats the case dear god, i feel sorry for your engine...

have you looked at your spark plugs? wouldn't suprise me if there toast.

yea im guna check them out tommarow today my car started running realy rich i had to tone it down a whole bunch i dont know wtf is going on with my fuel. it gets rich then lean rich lean i dont know what to do im looking into that AEM plug and play thing. im going to up my boost a lil bit more to try to suck up some of that unburnt fuel. what kind of PSI can a 14b push out? i have it around 12 pounds right now is it ok to go to around 15 or 16 psi?

u can do what im going to end up doing, i had to get rid of the AC fan because it doesn't fit with my new turbo in there. So im gettin a Push style slim fan, and mouting it between the condesor and fmic and just using it to push air through instead of using it pull style. but i hope it all worx out for u

Ahhh yes the POS FAL fans. I put them in myself the other day. Very dissappointing if I may say. It came with crap instructions, poor hardware and I had to do some additional trimming to get it to work. If you have a Fluidyne Radiator then you can't mount it using the given poor excuse of hardware they give you. I ended up having to mount mine through the radiator fins as well using those fin mounts you can get at any auto parts store.

Mine came with a external thermostat control that required to cut the stock harness off, well I did anyways, or use other wiring to get the things to work. The FAL fans are not plug and play you must do some wiring work.

Other than that they work like champs and are very quiet compared to the stockers. I needed the clearance and thats what I got with these suckers. If I had to do it again I would have saved some money and got just a single fan for about $100.00 vs. the $360 bones I shelled out for mine. I mean come the cool sticker they give ya, yeah right, is really worth it isn't it?
