the Kron,
OK I am a wannabe dsm owner and I have a project car that I have pretty much completed for now. Its a 95 probe GT that I created a turbo setup for and seems to be running pretty god thus far at 5 psi. The only thing DSM I am using is the 1G BOV. My question is track related. I am trying to decide if I want to use my spare hood and stack a small sidemount intercooler over top of the engine like a subaru with a scoop for ram air to pass thru my intercooler then route the incoming airflow with a stainless channel toward the turbo. Here is a qwik pic of my setup to better understand what I am saying. This is what it looks like now

So instead of wasting mucho amounts of pipe goign all around the engine to the front mounted IC I could just mount a sidemount IC right on top of my front valve cover and then cut/mount the hood for a scoop right over the IC. So I guess my main question is do you guys thing this is silly or is it worth while. And I wondered if you thought a 1G DSM side mount would work nicely for this as far as flow and cooling capability. I would much rather ask you gents about turbo intercooler Q's since your cars are factory top notch and you have to deal with turbo heat related issues daily. I am just trying to be unique and creative, which is obvious with a turbo probe LOL. Any and all comments welcome! Thanks,

Dan

:( i miss my probe GT. had it so much shit on it. gettin ready for a turbo like u. then BAM, drunk driver hit me. goodbye car.

instead of makin it a TMIC, why not just use the SMIC as a ....SMIC...

This is what the IC looks like now and its not pretty bu it gets the job done.

Its a 1G 1990 Probe intercooler. I dont know if a side mount setup is worth while or not. I never understood how a sidemount could actually keep things cool since its not recieving freshair passing thru it all the time. I might even try a trans am style dual scoop on the front of the hood andmake it look like the TA front end. That would look tits I think :)

Sorry to hear about your pgt too! - Dan

Personally i say get a sidemount, and you could put a lil scoop right by the bottom of the car on whichever side you mount the scoop and just let the scoop angle to the IC. *more forced air*

Personally I wouldn't run a top mount. You won't get the same results with it up there because of all the heatsoke from the engine. I would try to find a smaller side mount or a small fmic, you'll get better cooling and less chance of detination IMO.

Exactly! I am trying to find the smaller isuzu npr intercooler that way the inlets would run right under my subframe. But those IC's are near impossible to find these days! :(

Yeah the only thing holding me back from buying one of those yet is the cash. Plus I thought $300 was a bit much for one of those. Plus on my car having side inlets would make it a little harder because have NOWHERE to run the pipes around the frame. Unless I get out my sawzaw and go to town on my frame. And I dont think that is the best route for me to make my car more drivable and safe ;) The only reason I wanted a topmount idea was because nobody else has done it and it might look tits:thumb:

Get a 3rd gen Supra intercooler. That will work great for your application and it is cheap
