I've got a "way kewly" JDM GVR4 cyclone motor sitting in my garage on the stand, and I'm trying to figure out if I can run a Cyclone intake on a 2G, and not get CEL's all the time, as I'd like the larger 1st gen intake runners, and the throttle body (Which I'm still not quite sure if it'll work with a 2G).

I don't need any of my emissions equipment for inspections (I have a few buddies down at the garage down the street from me ;) ), so I'm not too worried about any sort of equipment removal to get it to work, but any help would be appreciated to get this thing to work.

If not, I can always swap heads, which I really, really, really don't want to do, as far as a "pain in the ass" factor, and a performance factor (It's got low enough compression as it is, I don't need a low flow head as well).

I know JDM motors don't have any of the usual emissions stuff, but I'm just at a bit of a loss with all those vacuum hoses against the firewall.

Thanks..

First sentence. I know reading is hard.

throw it away, thats what I am doing with mine.Unless the vacum canister is in perfect condition and you have the orignial ecu with the harness you will never be able to run it as mitsubish meant to run it.

I don't want to RUN the butterfly valves at all (I frankly don't care about them), as I thought that it ran with them flat open, not unlike the 1G intake manifold.

If it REQUIRES the valves to be actuated, I'll toss it and see what I can do about hooking up my 2nd gen intake manifold with stock 2G throttle body (Due to my new knowledge that the JDM GVR4 throttle body is useless to a 2G) to a first gen head. Oh the irony of that, if it's even possible.

Yeah, and I know about the first gen intake, but I'm getting quite broke from this project as is.

Tell me about it, but the butterfly valves are closed at low RPM's t ogive better low end torque, then are actuated by a signal from the ecu to the vacum canister to open the valves. If you just want to use the manifold I don't see why you can't just take them out and use it like that(but I don't know if that is even possible).I just used a 1g intake manifold with mine with the jdm throttle body. I eleminated almost all the vacum lines so all I needed was the one port from the throttle body to run a boost gauge. I took the egr valve off and re routed the charcole canister, and only run the the fuel pressure solenoid valve. I found the instructions on here somewhere. If you are intrested in them I can try and dig them up for you.

That would be really excellent.

Thanks for filling me in on how the Cyclone manifold works though. If I had my way, I'd get a magnus intake or some other sheet-metal intake, but... Funds dictate otherwise... I'm never going to have this car done. ;)

that is where I found the info on how to do it.If you need an egr blockoff you can just cut a small peice of sheet metaland put it on with some gasket sealant. Then just follow the diagram on the website, its pretty easy to do.If you need another intake manifold I might be able to let go of cheap since I don't need it.If you have any other problems let me know and I'll see if I can help
