I searched but all my questioned were not answered like I want so I am posting. All I found was swapping a 4g64 bottom into a 2g with 2g head. I am asking about swapping my 1G NT head onto the 4g63 block. I have about $1000 to work with and am looking for a 4g64 to play with. I figure instead of bulding up a NT 2.0 I should go with the NT 2.4 as there is no replacement for displacement. :D

Ok do the 4g64 7 bolts suffer from crankwalk like the 4g63 7 bolts?

Will any 4g64 bolt into a 92 Talon using the existing motor mounts?

What all will I need to swap a 4g63 head onto a 4g64 and does year matter?

What problems will Irun into intrying to mount my 4g63 head onto the 4g64 and swap into my car?

Will the tranny on my 92NT bolt up?

Will my 4g63 wiring harness work?

I don't know, but I would stick with a 6-bolt, as it would prob be easier (i.e. flywheel, clutch, ect).

I believe so.

G64B from the 85-87 Galant, has the 6 bolt crank and the BIG rods plus instead of filling big holes all you need to is drill 2 small holes.

You will either have to fill holes or drill new ones. Because of the added deck-height, you will have to use the the timing belt from a 4G64 DOHC Galant 2.4l 1994 ONLY!!! (the 4g63 is TOO short). You will also need the cam gears are from the 1994 DOHC Galant 2.4l (4g63 adjustable cam gears will work but the timing marks are different).

Either a custom headgasket or a 4g64 dohc headgasket (the 4g63 headgasket is too small other wise you can try to order one for a 4g63 with 60 thousands over bore about 1.5 inches)

Link for head-gasket:

Will the tranny on my 92NT bolt up?

As long as you don't get a 'wide block', then yes.

Will my 4g63 wiring harness work?

Yes

Good Luck.

Awsome! Thank you SO much for answering my questions. :) I have a few more if you don't mind.

Is the G64b the engine code to the galant engines you mention? And these are basically the same as the 4g64 and should work just the same?

Would it be best to try and get a 85-87 Galant Engine? I see that they only come with 101HP in stock form. What type of power should that block with my DOHC head produce?

And does it matter if it's from a car with a 5 speed or automatic?

Thanks. :)

G64b is the engine code.

If I were going this route, that is the one I would look for...
I would try to get a manual one, again for simplicity. But I doubt an auto will present any problems.
As for power, I'm unsure....but be sure to let me know :thumb:

if you're doing a 6 bolt, then use a 1989-1991 hyundai sonata 2.4 engine. this is the same casting as the mitsubishi 2.4, and has big rods. plus this engine is usually cheaper at a junk yard. i found one for under $100. i think the engine code is g4cs or something like that. or maybe gc4s. whatever it is, you get the point. try a search on
www.car-part.com. also, you dont have to drill or fill in anything with this block, just put whatever internals you want in, and slap a head on (with the proper head gasket and timing accessories, orf course. www.pro1motorsports.com does these engines, and they have head gaskets there for about $100. check them out, too. hope this helps

hey they also came in late 80's hyundai sonatas.thats were i got my 6 bolt.had to drill 2 water holes in the deck to match the 63 head but thats it.

My 4g64 project:
Installing in a 95 Tsi (crankwalk victim)
4g64 from a junkyard 89 Hyundai Sonata
1g Head
Ross Pistons
Eagle Rods

Questions:
1) Which frontcase/oil pump should I get? Will a 6 bolt frontcase/oil pump for a 4g63 work?
2) Which crank pulley do I need? Also the crank timing belt gear, which one?
3) Should I install 1g oil squirters to cool the pistons?

Thanks
