one of my team members found a bigger oil filter that fited his 90 integra and now his car runs really cold the temperatur guage use to go right to the middle as it should now it doesnt go past 1/4 of the guage does any body know a bigger oil filter that would fit a 1g???

You have a 1G like me, unless you do a filter relocation kit a bigger filter is a bad idea. My reasoning behind this is that the filter is aimed right at the downpipe and a bigger one would cause clearance issues. When most people upgrade their downpipe they have a hard enough time with the factory size filter not to mention a major heat source in close proximity.

As for the "cooling" effect that's a new one to me (I'm a 3rd year Mechanical engineering student.) The oil filter does not have enough surface area (and no fins) to radiate stored heat in the oil to the outside air.

Maybe your friends filter was clogged and he wasn't getting enough oil nessicary to reduce the friction of the motor and that changed when the filter was changed, or maybe his gauge/ sender broke.

A better filter is recommended, not a bigger one.

before his engine like all small engines only took three quarts and a 1/2 of another now it took in 5 quarts

I see the problem with you friend's car right there... (having owned a honda my self :rolleyes: ) Hondas require 4.35/ 4.5 quarts of oil for the B18B motor in your friend's car. He was a quart low by your specs. and unless it was a really big filter difference (size) I doubt it made room for an extra .5 quart.

hey tell me something turbo guru........since you are becaming a mechanical engineer......is it possible two stock integras ls with the inside of the catalyc converter removed to beat the newer rsx-s,typeR,gsr,and mustangs GT and a 90 awd eclipse with a cyclone engine with the inside of the cat removed to keep up with SS,s and T-A?

First off that borders on NON English. Calm down when you type and reread what you just typed before you click on the submit button. I think your question was “Can an otherwise stock Integra with the catalytic converter gutted beat all these fast cars?” You didn’t mention which integra so that may have a slight impact but the answer is still no. An Integra might pick up 3 hp to the wheels by gutting the cat still making it painfully slow and certaintly not capable of keeping up with fast cars.

I agree, rdrkt.

Honda_killer;
First, I hope that by reiterating my B.S.M.E. goal you were not trying to pick a fight with me... It won't happen, I have better things to do. I am only trying to help/ educate you, If that is not what you are looking for, then why be here? I hope you decide to stay and learn, if you do I will try to help.

Second, If you can provide the weight and horsepower of each car you asked about I can give you the mathmatical function to figure out which will be faster. This, of course, does not take into account for driver's skills (poor or otherwise.)

Joe

well for some reason both of my friends have 90 ls and both of them took out all of those cars i mentioned above and it wasnt just one it the integras beat them all the time..........i asked that question because this started after we gutted out the inside of the cats and i did the same with my cyclone 4g63 and i can keep up with SS,s and T-A(on their rear bumper) so i dont kown what happed!

No offense taken. I thought you might be trying to pick a fight (flame war) with me. My bad.

An Integra LS would not be able to beat those others cars if they just had a gutted cat and that is it.

The only way they could have beat the other cars is if they were not actually racing or the drivers were very bad. I owned a ITR and I ran a 14.7 stock and a 14.2 with a Spoon Header and CAI.

I have never seen an LS run a time even close to that. Are you sure that they are not LS/VTEC cars. That is a car with an LS block and a VTEC (GSR) head?

Ya definitely some crack smoking happening here. No way an LS would beat those other cars.
