well to FULLY break in a engine 2,000mile before you realy get on it hard.. but as long as your not realy pushing the engine 1,300miles should be fine...

DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT run it hard at all under 300-500 miles.

 Obivously you've never hear Buschur's way of breaking in a car. Drive it off the lot or out of the shop and put your foot to the floor. He dynoed all his aftermarket parts for the EVO on a brand new car with less than 1000 miles.

My friend is giving his rebuilt VR6 turbo nitrous Jetta 500 miles OMG :shhh:

I bet he will be  in less than 6 months.

2,000 miles sound about right to fully break it in and get on it hard.

I will have to break in my new rebuilt "stock 6bolt" engine in a week or so. I was thinking under 3000rpms with no boost for 500mile, then low spool and about 5000rpm up intill 1000miles, and then slowly see what she's made of after the first 1000 miles. How does this sound, i've also heard to not use synthetic oil for the first 3-5000 miles to allow the rings to seat thoroughly. What are your opinions?
