spooling slow

My friends TSI doesnt get like any boost untill around 4 grand or 45 grand. I was wondering why this is and if an open air can and a K&N will help reach max boost faster?

i just got done doing some really cool stuff to my 95 eclipse gst. It made my boost go up higher and quicker:

replaced the restrictive upper intercooler piping
rewired the fuel pump with 10 gauge wiring
k&n cone filter

alright thanks, what did u replace ur uicp with?? We have limited resources here so i was wondering where u would get one?and how much

Yep, so was i. I looked at ebay and spoke with other internet sites..they had pipes for like $70 on up! So instead i went to an auto parts store..and looked at the radiator hose piping they had. All you need is one with a 90 degree angle in it. Also, it should be at least 2" inside diameter. No bigger than 2 1/2" inside diameter. Here look at this link..this is exactly what i did..it took about 30 minutes..and tadaa....better psi spool and more boost!

hey, i took off my cat and replaced it with a really nice straight pipe...this one has some resonator materiall....so not as loud...my turbo spools up quicker

I can almost gaurantee that there is a problem!! I just put a big16g on my car, and I was shocked when I pulled off the turbine housing on my 14b!!! My car used to start to get boost at like 3800 but wouldn't hit the 8psi until like 5500rp,, thats insane!!! I had cracks all over the housing itself and the wastegate and housing was all torn up! It was so bd no wonder when I tried to turn up my boost it wouldn't hit more that 10psi, cause the wastegate could never close. I would first check to make sure you have no boost leaks, then check tha wastegat are and make sure its working properly. If after all that, nothing...sorry dude you might have a toasted-ass turbo like I did!! But upgrades are very cheap, so keep that in mind.

A couple of things will help. Downpipe and cat back exhaust and a intake. Is the car automatic? Also the uicp and licp will help.

Hey tb, yes all this will help uip, exhaust and all that crap, but if there is a problem... the turbo still wont act like it should...
