Muffler questions

I have a 3" Apexi N1 cat back, and I love the way it performs, and sounds. BUT, the Po-Po's don't. I have been harassed on several occasions, and even ticketed for it being "too loud". I don't have the resonator anymore because it got lost, or I would put it in. So right now, I am looking for a duel tip performance muffler that looks more like the stock muffler. The only problem is that the nice looking ones that I can find have just a 2-1/2" inlet, and not a 3" inlet. I know that putting on a smaller adapter can easily make it fit, but what kind of performance loss will I have doing this? Doe's anyone know where I may be able to find a duel tip "like stock" looking muffler with a 3" inlet? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Go on Magnaflow's website. They have a lot of different mufflers, some of which are 3" and they aren't too loud.

i have the magnaflow 3 inch straight muffler with a piece of 3 inch stainless piping as my tip. it doesn't look like stock, but it definatly doesn't look like a grapefruit shooter either. the sound is nice and deep, not too loud at all. i took my friends car for a ride the other day and he has the N1. it was soooo much louder than my exaust. the magna flow has a nice deep sound to it and only gets loud at WOT. i've heard the thermal, greddy, apex, and i like the sound of the magnaflow muffler the best. just my 2 cents. hope it helps
