If my plans go right I'm going to get my hands on a 91 AWD Talon that has a "blown engine." I use the "" because I have not seen the car. The individual says the block and head should be good but will probably need a basic rebuild. What basic means I'm not sure. I just want to know what the cheapest way to do a rebuild to a stock engine...no oversized or forged pistons...just a rebuild. Forget the basic part, I'm considering worst case scenario. Would it be cheaper to get a rebuild kit from:
Mach V (even though I've heard the top line brand is not "top line"

or should I buy the gaskets and other supplies from the dealer. I'm just looking for options. I've read other posts and most people replied that forged pistons and extensive machine work should be done. I just want to get the car running back to stock form. In truth I'm just hoping that he blew the head gasket between cylinders and that's causing the car not to start. It's a DSM though, so all I can do is hope
Let me know and I'll try to get some more info to diagnose what is wrong. Thanks for your help in advanced.

and very happy with it. You can order the pistons in the overbore that your machine shop will determine for your block. But if i were to do it all over again instead of spending $300 for pistons plus $100 for machining them to my rods. I would buy Ross pistons for $400 and not need any machine work.
