Hey Guys, I'm new to the board. I've been looking around and it looks like we got some knowledgable DSM'ers up in here, which is good cuz I need the help!

My stock 97 GST crankwalked this past week and I got a 1g longblock for a replacement motor. The block a 94 turbo and is complete except for the turbo and accessories. Here is my question, what do I need to take off my 2g block in order to get this bad boy back up and running.

Here is what I know so far...

Use the 2g Starter Plate
Use the 1g 6 bolt flywheel
Use the 2g Accessories/brackets etc.
Modify the 2g motor mount to fit on the 1g (since the waterpump is in the way)

Can I use the turbo off the 2g? If so will I have to use the 2g manifold? Is there any benefit to using the 2g manifold, is it bigger?

What electronics will I need to swap off the 2g (i.e. TPS, MAP, EGR)?

Will I need to customize a harness for the CAS sensor? If I don't have one ready will the engine still run?

I'm looking to get the most power and most reliablilty out of this setup so any additional help would be greatly appreciated. Let me know what you guys think, thanks!!!

Also, do I need to use the fuel rails off the 2g too?

Thanks guys... The motor is being put in today at the shop so any help would be HUGELY appreciated so that they can get my baby back up and running without screwing it up.

C'mon guys, hook it up... This mechanic doesn't really know it all, and I'm no mechanic myself. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks ya'll

NO WAY!!!!!!!! I thought that 95-98 blocks were 7 bolt and the 90-94 was a 6 bolt! Where did I go wrong? This sucks.... So am I not really gaining much here other than a better head/intake setup? DAMMIT! Oh well, I paid 950.00 for the motor so I though it was a good deal. It's still being put in, I just hope it doesn't walk as well or I'm going to be SEVERELY PISSED OFF!

6-bolts are 90-april 92

anyway, the 1G 7-bolts are less likely to walk than the 2G 7-bolts. 6-bolts walk also, they're just less prone to do so

Well thanks for the responses but that didn't help me too much on the install. Does anyone here know the differences as far as sensors between the 94 and 97 motors? The motor is in, and now we're pluging things in and realizing not everything matches.

Does the 94 have a Crank Angle Sensor? I thought that since ther Cam angle Sensor is different than the 97, I would need to convert both Crank angle and Cam angle sensors into one plug, and plug it into the Cam Angle Sensor on the side of the cam. Anyone???

Also, what do I do about the IAC sensor?

Thanks guy!

1G's do not have a Crank Angle Sensor, but there is a provision for it on the front case (?). Idle Speed Controller is the same, but the Throttle Position Sensor is different, as the 2G TPS reads throttle position and closed throttle. your 97 is OBD-II compliant, and the 1G's aren't, so I'm sure there are some differences with emissions crap as well.
