Once the valve springs and retainer are removed should the valves slide out with just a tap with your finger? I ask because all of my exhaust valves had no problem falling out with a tap but several of my intake valves stopped half way down and had to be pulled out the rest of the way. Im just wondering if there warped or is this normal?

well, valves don't warp, its probably just some buildup on the stem and is hitting the seal, push, pull, they'll come out. unless you have bent valves, but you would know it if you did.

So if im hearing what your saying I dont have to replace them? I took them off to do the valve seals and the head ran perfect except the seals smoked. Does the intake side tipically receive more build up because like I said the exhaust side fell right out.

By the way do I use fine grit sand paper to clean the valves or just some solvent?
